Although it could work in several genres, I would be inclined to read it as adventure. Why? Because of the conflict, the courage, the growth. And what a marvelous read aloud you have picked. It will seize the hearts of you and your family. Enjoy!

Awesome book, Mary!!! You dc will LOVE it! So will you. :D I have read it twice to my dc & they always want to pray to make sure they belong to their Captain(Jesus)! I LOVE Lamplighter books. (Mark Hamby is a wonderful model of a Christian. He is transparent & vulnerable. He has helped me a lot b/c he too has struggled with being too harsh/controlling at times with his kids.) I try to get 1 or 2 a year b/c they are pricey. Hedge of Thorns is GREAT too! We also just read Buried in the Snow. Excellent, but a bit sad. I just can't say enough about these God honoring books!

ENJOY!! :D

Mary,

If you enjoy Teddy's Button I thought I would share with you a few other titles that are equally soul gratifying. You don't usually see these books on "lists", so that's why I offer them to you on this list!

I've loaned out quite a few of these, so here's the information I could pull together in a pinch.

Making Home Happy by Avery-Stuttle ISBN 1-881545-13X -
Treasure in the Big Woods - by Tuininga printed by Bible Truth Publishers - a little house type book, with God's truth as the treasure - Tuininga the author wrote the book, based on her childhood for her grandchildren
Spotted Boy and the Comanches - by Cason ISBN 9780816313310
The LIttle Woodchopper - little book, translated from German -
Mary Jones and Her Bible - so touching!- biography - true story of a Welsh girl who is so inspired by the Bible she makes up her mind to get her very own copy
Saved at Sea- wonderful book! - adventure - daring rescue from sinking ship with a gospel message
Stand By Boys - another true book about the flood in Holland - your children will be shouting, "Stand By Boys!"

Hmmm. Well that's enough for now. These are all books that have touched our family in a special way.
With Joy!

'sigh' so many wonderful books!! I sure do have a lot to look forward to. :D It's hard not to want my kids to grow up fast, but I know I need to savor this time with them when they are small... I must say that where we are at right now is just so much fun!
