LHFHG - Bible question
LHFHG - Bible question
Just looking ahead to the fall and what I need to still purchase for Little Hearts. I'm looking specifically at the Bible right now and wondering if I should purchase one of the recommended Bibles or just use one of the MANY that we already have at home. We have quite a few Bible Story books and also the NIrV Adventure Bible for young readers. Anyway, I'm just kind of taking a poll to find out what everyone has done for Little Hearts. Part of me would like the ease of just opening to the page number specified in the TM, but I'm also trying to be practical and use our money wisely.
Thanks.

Re: LHFHG - Bible question
We bought the Bible recommended for LHFHG, but I mainly did that because the one pcture Bible we had was pretty tattered. You could easily take a few minutes weekly to look over the next Unit's readings and put in page numbers from one of the Bibles that you already own.

Re: LHFHG - Bible question
We just used story Bibles we already had, but at some point I'd like to buy both of the ones HOD recommends.

Re: LHFHG - Bible question
We bought one Bible to begin with, and I liked it so well, we eventually bought the other one. I was glad I did. I used the Bible virtually every day of the plans, and it was well worth the money to be able to open it right up to what I needed to read. I also think the HOD story Bible choices are books that should be on our shelves anyway. I figured if I would have gone out and bought a couple books for my dc or me to read just for leisure, I'd be at the cost of the story Bible, and the story Bible would be used every day, all school year. Many moms who do not originally purchase the story Bible at book fairs order it later anyway, just for the beautiful pics and the matching links to the day's activities in the HOD guide. If you are able to swing it, I'd buy one of them - but that's just my 2 cents!

Re: LHFHG - Bible question
After reading the other ladies responses I wanted to update my reply. My daughter does just absolutely love the Bible that is recommended for LHFHG, she loves the illustrations and takes it with her to church each week. As the other ladies said, it is a worthwhile investment, I'm glad that I had to buy a new one or my dd would have missed out on a terrific children's Bible. For our family we chose, "The Family Time Bible".

Thanks ladies. I kind of figured that it would be worth getting, but just wanted to check in.

Re: LHFHG - Bible question
I have to admit we have many, many story Bibles around our house too!
However, my boys have all loved and cherished their Bibles from LHFHG, so we've always let them keep them and take them to church as their church Bible when we finished with LHFHG. They each love having their very own copy. I have to admit I also love opening and having the right page number there for me to read every day. It makes the Bible open-and-go (which I really appreciate).
Blessings,
Carrie
