BLHFHG Bibliography Reading

Post by tre-planted » Thu Feb 12, 2009 12:21 pm

We purchased the "classical" book set for this year, and up until we got to "The Railway Children", my son has enjoyed every one. As we started reading "The Railway Children", we ran into a "snag", as the slang used in this book totally lost my 6yr old. Per discussions on this board, others recommended we switch to one of the other books from the boy or girl list. The book "Key to the Treasure" seemed to be the most popular one recommended, and now I know why. So thank you all for your help and direction. We started this book over a week ago, and my son is hooked. Infact, he hates when we're done for the day, and want to keep going. We've solved three clues together, working them out on paper, then reading the book to see if we were right. It's been so much fun! A book that we can actually put an activity into practice as we read. He retains it so much more. We have 4 chapters left to read, before the end of our Unit 20, which we started today. So we will end on time, thankfully. Then it's onto "Pagoo". Now this one, I am sure will be another favorite with my son, as we now have two hermit crabs, Bolt and Tigger, that were Christmas gifts to the kids. :)

Thanks again for helping me and giving me direction. We're back on track and doing great!

God Bless,
Tre :)

I'm so glad you enjoyed Key to the Treasure - we did too! Pagoo was another favorite here. My ds just finished reading Paddle to the Sea for DITHOR and loved that as well. With several hermit crabs in your house, Pagoo is sure to please! I bet even Bolt and Tigger might enjoy the reading.

Yes, the I think Bolt and Tigger will enjoy it. LOL! The tank is in our classroom, on the desk right where we work. I can already see my son showing the pictures of the book to them.

Thanks for replying! Have a wonderful day!

Tre,

I'm so glad that you are getting a chance to read and enjoy Key to the Treasure. My boys LOVED that book too. :D They had a great time trying to solve the clues as we read.

Pagoo has beautiful pictures! My boys have loved poring over the pages. :D There is a lot to read on each page, so take your time as you go. 8)

Blessings,
Carrie
