DITHOR..question..for Carrie or anyone else in the know...
I am tinking that there has already been a discussion regarding when the newest level book packs will be up on the site, but of course I can't find it. I'm wondering when the book packs will be available and what reading level they will go up to. My son's reads at a high school level (9th I think) but he so enjoys reading books at a lower level also. I'm trying to decide how I should choose for DITHOR for him. My dd we will just be able to get books at her grade level...I know we've discussed this before. Just wondering if I should choose his books for DITHOR at his higher reading level...and wanting to try getting them from HOD if possible. Thanks for anwering my constant questions!
Can you tell we still haven't implemented this into our school day yet? It has been a struggle..not because of the programs but because of me and our various 'situations' this year....hoping to get this started so we can at least get in 2-3 genres this school year!

Hey Wendy!
They are up and look great! They're not high school level, but you could sure look to see if they look like something your son will enjoy. Now, I couldn't get to them from the "book shop", but I'm pretty sure I could from the DITHOR page. So, if you're on the main page and go to the DITHOR guide, at the top of that page there will be DITHOR packages and optional book packs. One of those is the link you'll need. (I'm going off memeory here, sorry if it's confusing!)
Do you have the sample book list for ideas? Maybe you could get some good ideas there. OR, you could go to the book shop and pick the ones with the higher reading levels for your son...and have them on hand for your younger ones for read-alouds later.
Good luck on your book search! I know you'll love DITHOR! We're having a blast with it this year. Currently, Grant just finished his mystery and we're working on a Radio Drama (complete with character and sound effects) to go with part of the book for the project. It's the "group" project, but he thought it sounded like so much fun that our family agreed to be his "group".

Thanks, Kathleen. I do have the sample book list...so I can check that out. Now back to the site to try to find the book pack.

inHistiming,
Kathleen did a great job of helping you! Thanks, Kathleen. Our web designer is going to get the new books in the Book Shop too, but he's thinking of revamping the Book Shop (so it may be awhile). Meanwhile, you can get to the new book packs through the DITHR page.
Here's a link to the 4/5 Boy Pack: http://www.heartofdakota.com/DITHOR45-boys-pack.php
Here's a link to the 4/5 Girl Pack: http://heartofdakota.com/DITHOR45-girls-pack.php
We are going to be having Boy Interest and Girl Interest read-aloud packs for the new ancients guide that follow the 9 genres as well, so you could use one of those packages for an upper level reader for DITHR if desired instead. Those should be coming on the website within the next few weeks.
If you do begin DITHR, just go at the 3 days a week pace. It works well.
Blessings,
Carrie
