Girls and HOD curriculum

Post by hugsathome » Mon Oct 27, 2008 9:47 am

Hi Everyone!!

Well, I know my son just loves Bigger...but I wonder how my daughter will do next year? She would start with either Beyond or Bigger. Doing Bigger this year has been great...learning about Indians, battles, early American inventions, etc...but it seems like Bigger would be most interesting for boys. I'm just wondering how girls do with the same curriculum??

Thanks for any input!!!

Well I have three girls ages (9-11) using Bigger and they love it just as much as their ten year old brother does. I do not see it as a boy program really. It appeals to all. Yes there are Indians etc but there is also Pocahontas. And stories that are actually about girls. There is interest for everyone in Bigger. I think your daughters will like it. My daughters just love it. We just read all the history and Science in Bigger. They are actually sad when it is over.

So that is my tried and true Bigger with three girls. BTW I have two girls ages 4-6 that love to listen in on Bigger. They usually do not make the whole thing. Usually they get some idea from what we have read and go off and play whatever we are reading. But every morning they come back to listen. So I actually I have five girls listening in on the reading and two of them are not even supposed to be there. I was worried for a while what I would do when I came to Bigger because they have heard a lot of it. But I think they will still love it when it is their program and they get to dig deeper.

I know you will get more replies from other girls loving Bigger as well. HTH :D

You are more than welcome! :D I do not think I mentioned that my two little girls (ages 4 and 6) do LHFHG and love it! And they still listen to Bigger.

Hope you find the perfect one for your daughter. I know other moms will tell you how their girls like it as well. :D
