workbook suggestions?

Post by happyhomeschooling » Sun Oct 19, 2008 11:11 pm

My dd is using LHFHG. She flew through the R&S workbooks, and we are only about half way done with Little hearts. She is a very visual
learner, and loves workbooks. I looked at the R&S web sight and the next step seems to be 1st grade which is just a little to old for her,
and everything else seems too easy. I would love to find something in between with some phonics type work along with varied lessons for
her grade level. Like I said we are about half through LH, and she will be 6 in 2 mo. Any suggestions would be delightful!
Thanks!!!!

We have gotten workbooks in the past from www.epsbooks.com They have tons of workbooks in different styles on different levels. They generally have some sample pages up you can look at. HTH!

You may wish to add on the Thinking Skills Workbook that we have scheduled in Little Hearts as well. It works well after the Rod and Staff workbooks. Another option would be to do the beginning Explode the Code workbooks. They start with writing short vowel words in Book 1. :D

Modern Curriculum Press Plaid phonics workbooks are also good ones.

Hi there! We enjoyed using the workbooks Carrie suggested with our oldest ds - first we did Thinking Skills and ETC, and then MCP Plaid. We did these with my oldest ds because he enjoyed it - he sounds like your dd! :D My next ds has only done ETC Book 1 so far, just as a supplement to our phonics. He is not as into workbooks! :D If kids are, then these are great - if not, LHFHG is enough on its own too - just in case any of you are reading this wondering why I added them in. Have a Marvelous Monday! :)
In Christ,

I did'nt mention in my post that dd is working in Thinking skills and flying right throught that one too,
and gives me looks as she doing it like "are you serious" becuase she is such a visual kid she really sucks up
the workbooks with little effort
But I have orderd some of the wb mentioned here and I am looking forward to challenging her a little more!
As always Thank you all for your information and imput! Your experience and expertise are priceless to me!
