You might try this site

http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

You can click on your state to find the laws for your state..

YOU MAY ALSO WANT TO FIND A LOCAL HOMESCHOOL GROUP THAT CAN HELP YOU MAKE THE TRANSITION...MOMS THERE CAN BE A GREAT RESOURCE FOR NEW AND VETERAN HOMESCHOOLERS ALIKE. :D

Call your superintendents office and ask to speak to the Homeschooling department as well. They should be able to give you step by step directions. One word of warning is they will also probably try to talk you out of it. If they do tell them you have already decided and what you need is directions on how to go about it properly. Congratulations! :D

I am praying for you that this will go as smoothly as possible. Stay strong - homeschooling is legal and is a valid schooling option for all parents to choose if they wish. We are here for you at the HOD board!

In Christ,
Julie :D

P.S. If you could post what state you are from, I bet someone on this board could you point you in the right direction.

This is a tribute to why I should NOT try to get on the board during homeschooling time (even if it was during lunch)!   I see now that you have "WA" in your post title! So sorry - are you frightened to receive any "help" from me now?!? I DID pray though - praise the Lord, God doesn't muck things up like I do! :D

Hi salvationatlast! Welcome to the HOD board. I went ahead and jumped over to HSLDA for you and went to WA Homeschool Organizations for you so I could link you directly just in case you haven't found this page yet. Just look over this listing of groups and see if any are near you or if you can get a response from the state level groups who can point you to something closer to you. I would imagine those with check marks in front of their name will respond to you because they offer HSLDA discounts if you are member. http://www.hslda.org/orgs/default.asp?State=WA

I hope this helps and please don't be afraid to ask questions here. The ladies here at the HOD board are a wonderful group of ladies!

Be aware that if you call the school system for info that they may very well indeed give you wrong info. If I were you I would go through a state organization and let them tell you how to go about it legally and correctly. They will be best at helping you and being on your side so to speak LOL.

Blessings!

ETA: I checked out the Christian Home Educators of Washington and there is some great info on that site and I am sure you would get some kind of response from them if you call them. HTH!
Blessings,
