I'm going to use the LHTH with him and my K4er. But for my son's K5 year, I'm going to also use some "right side" activities from LHFHG (R&S books, A Reason for Handwriting, and I'm going to go ahead and give Singapore math a try--if it doesn't work out, no biggie as we can try something different or skip math and just prepare for a more formal math program for Grade 1. The other math programs I'm looking into are Right Start, BJU, and Developmental Math).
I decided to find a phonics program but I don't see him fitting into either of the ones listed, and I really just want to expose him to phonics because our most important thing to do is get him to understand letters and their sounds (and if I'm correct, LHTH will do this). I've heard several talk about SSRW containing a lot of writing, so we decided against that and may use it for 1st grade, depending on how he does. After speaking with his OTR, she just doesn't see his fine motor skills improving rapidly enough to handle lots of writing. But she thinks the Reason for Handwriting will give him just enough practice.
So we're going to give Hooked on Phonics-K a try for a phonics program and I may incorporate Happy Phonics as well, depending on if he gets it for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa.
It's a big relief to already have this taken care of. I had a big credit at B&N, so I went ahead and picked up HOP-K today and think it's going to really help get him exposed to some beginning phonics.
