Love Bigger!
Love Bigger!
I just got our Bigger manual yesterday. It is wonderful and just what I was hoping for! I can't wait to post a REAL testimonial after we begin Bigger!
I LOVE the layout of the program. I LOVE that the entire day can be seen at a glance. It is easier to read than the usual Planbook.
In fact, this morning as I had my quiet time and a little time to think, I wished that Carrie could help me organize my life in a nice manual. I can just imagine opening up to the next day and finding all of my chores and other obligations in nice and neat little boxes that I could check off throughout the day.

Yeah! Isn't it exciting! It is so amazing how you can look at it and look at it and question it but the moment you get the whole guide in your hands and are looking at the real thing, you know it is going to be perfect. We felt the same way. She is very talented! Just wait until you do it and your kids feel the same way.
So happy for you that you love it!

LOL...ok Carrie...get started on that dayplanner for all of us!
Callia, I love the box thing too! I even write myself little notes about each subject in those little boxes.
I really like the dayplanners at motivatedmoms.com (at least I think that's the addess). I also like flylady, but the ones from motivatedmoms are easier for me to stick to.

Callia - thanks for sharing! Isn't it great to get the guide and think, "I can totally do this!" rather than, "Oh no...". You are going to have such a wonderful year! Be sure to share with us as you go through it. It is a wonderful blessing to encourage and be encouraged!

Fly Lady and Motivated Moms
Well, can you tell that this week I have been burning up the computer keyboard? (This isn't usual, but I am on a mission!)
I had a chance to look at Flylady and Motivated Moms. Wow! I love the concept of each of them.
I think I am going to buy the Motivated Moms material. It is very inexpensive and looks like something I can and will actually do.
I guess I've come full circle. I started out life having people tell me exactly what to do. Then I grew up and loved the idea that people weren't telling me exactly what to do. Now I am actually LOOKING for people who can tell me exactly what to do again!!
Motivated Moms looks perfect for me!
Now, is there ANY "check off the boxes" program out there for my sixth grader that is anywhere near as lovely as the HOD products? If so, I think my three wishes will have been granted!
Thank you! Glory to God because I honestly believe that granting the first two wishes is all from Him and a direct answer to a heartfelt prayer!

Well, the guide won't be ready til August, but may I remind you that HOD's Preparing Hearts has an extension pack for grades 5 and 6 Wish grantedCallia wrote: Now, is there ANY "check off the boxes" program out there for my sixth grader that is anywhere near as lovely as the HOD products? Just another thought-you could also look at some of the books scheduled in the index of Bigger (the grade 3/4 extension books) as a little light reading for your 6th grader-my 8th grader has been reading a couple of these along with her own schoolwork, for fun
By the way, I just bought a Motivated Moms planner today! It's just what I need-I am so "challenged" in this area

My daughter will be in seventh grade by the time the "Preparing" program comes out. If there was any way to squeeze her into that program, I would! But I think this daughter will always be a year ahead of the programs.
I did decide to put her in the "Bigger" extension materials this year for history though. Right now she doesn't have any history program, so we're moving in the right direction. If the rest of her curriculum is rigorous enough, I am not worried if the history program is a little less so. I want her to enjoy reading the books and to retain some information about the time period.
I ordered the Motivated Moms material today too. I already made myself do all of the items for today so that I could check them off. That meant I had to exercise today. So I DID! Wow! I think that maybe this planner has already turned me into a more motivated mom and perhaps a healthier one too.
Enjoy your evening!

Add me to the motivated moms lists! Although I don't use it very well...
For the kids we bought a planner from notebooking nook called The Joyful Steward. It's pretty complementary to the HOD stuff, I think.
I can't wait to see the Preparing. I think it will be a good fit for my 12 year old.

Home Management Binder
There is a site I visit occasionally; a fellow homeschool mom's blog. She has an entire series on setting up what she calls a Home Management Binder. I set one up and I love the way it has helped me to get organized. I still have many sections that I need to tweak and work on, but it's been a HUGE help. If you visit the site, look on the left-hand side of the page to find HMB-U (Home Management Binder University). It may help you out. See the link below.
