Help!!! Timeline has be totally stumped!!

Post by Natreez » Fri Aug 29, 2008 4:30 pm

Ok so I've been researching trying to find a photo or something to help me to visualize how to do the Bigger timeline but have come up with nothing. I've read what others have suggested on how they plan to create their timeline but as a highly visual person I just can seem to picture what I need to do. Can anyone PLEASE help me figure this one out??

Thanks so much!!
Natreez :)

I don't have a picture, but I'll try to describe what I did.

I took my file folder, a pen, and a ruler. There are to be 11 columns and 12 rows. First, I measured off the columns at the top with my ruler, just putting a small mark (approx. 1.5 in. intervals). Then, I went back and, using my ruler, made a straight line all the way down where each mark was. Next, I did the same with my rows, one small mark every inch. Then I went back and used my ruler to make a straight line where the marks were. It looks kind of like graph paper but larger spaces. Last, I went across the top and wrote down the dates in each column, like this: 1450, 1500, 1550, etc. I hope that makes sense, and maybe someone will be able to come on and post a good picture for you. :D

InHistiming desrcibed exactly what's in the manual. I decided to print mine off on cardstock from excel. I made the grid lines show and typed dates above the columns. (I made a column for 2000 even though we didn't need to so my pages were identical. I figured Grant could put himself there since he was born in 2000 if he wanted to...) I used my scrapbooking tape to tape it to a 2-pocket folder. Here's a picture of it.

Here's a link to another picture of a time line in a file folder. It's in Julie's post (which is the 1st one there  ).

At my blog under HOD, I have a picture of our timeline. It's our first ever doing a timeline. I just took a file folder and the name strips I bought from the dollar store and taped on the inside of the folder.

Hope this link takes you to it, if not just go to it and click under HOD.
