Post by momof2n2 » Mon Aug 25, 2008 6:13 pm

need some ideas...
My son is 8, third grade, and a good reader.

Also - what are you reading for Storytime in Bigger?
I want to read Fanny Crosby: Queen of Gospel Songs, but I fear my boys will not love it. :P I got George Rogers Clark, instead.

We have not started DITHOR yet..we're going to spend a few weeks getting into our schedule, then add that. hailey will probably use the classic interest books, whatever's available at the library, for her reading in DITHOR. For Logan, since his reading level is so much higher, we will be using higher level books from the book list I purchased for his reading in DITHOR. Some we have already, others we will get at the library.

We just added storytime today, reading Phillis Wheatley: Young Revolutionary Poet. That was what was available at the library...it will be our first time reading about slavery at all. I think it will be good for us to learn about those issues. I plan to just use the list in the book, according to what is available at the library at the time.

By the way, I loaned my copy of Stories of the Pilgrims to someone to look at...when I get it back I'd be happy to loan it to you for the year. We will not need it again until my 5 yo gets to Beyond... in 2 years. Let me know. I'm praying your day tomorrow and the rest of the week will be better. I'd be happy to help with the girls some.

Edited to add:

Sorry, just realizeed it was History for Little Pilgrims..you were talking about. Is that with LHFHG? If so, I have that one too and won't use it 'til next year, so you can borrow it. Let me know.

momof2n2,

I think George Rogers Clark is a good one for boys, so you chose wisely for your read-aloud. :D

Also, we're coming out with a Boy Book Pack and a Girl Book Pack that can be used with Level 4/5 of DITHR. So, if you tell me what genre you're starting with I may be able to give you a selection that we've just pre-read for the Book Pack (as we're researching this very heavily right now)!

Blessings,
Carrie
