If anyone has started their Preparing guide, I'm curious about how it's going. (We plan to start Aug. 25) How long is your day taking? Any photos of the coat of arms activity yet?
I'm going to try doing it in the order it's listed to start - left column, right column, bottom. We might have to figure out where some good break times would be so I can give my 10th grader a little undivided attention too. The only thing I might modify for the first few weeks is the Science Notebook page on blank paper. We just started cursive last year & haven't practiced over the summer, so I made some sheets with lines at the top & bottom for writing and blank in the middle for his drawing.
Anyone started Preparing?
Re: Anyone started Preparing?
We started today. Except for the fact that I have three littles ones, its going well.
This is the order we do it in, although this might change.
*We may do these two boxes during breakfast, so the little ones are occupied and have food in their mouths
Reading About History
Storytime
*Oldest does these while I do LHTH with the littles. I'm available for questions on the semi-independent boxes
Variable (Research/Geo/Vocab/Timeline)
History Project
Independent History
Science Exploration
*Done at lunchtime
Poetry
*Done During Naptime for intensive teacher help
Math (while I'm getting littles to bed)
Language Arts
Bible Study

Re: Anyone started Preparing?
Hi Janet,
There was a great outline of a shield and some sample symbols to color on the familyfun website
see link here >>> http://jas.familyfun.go.com/arts-and-cr ... ftid=11778
I just printed the patterns out on cardstock for my dd using Preparing this week.
We're starting slowly ourselves. So first day we did left side of Day 1 and 2nd day the right side of Day 1. We're being lazy here as August is winding down for us.....
Hope this helps!
