first day of school

Post by paliz » Mon Aug 11, 2008 7:58 am

Well we start back to school today. We have 6 units left in Beyond and then we will move on to Bigger. I start our next to oldest next week with Little Hearts. I'm looking forward to things but am nervous about about having 2 students.

You're going to do great! We do LHFHG and Bigger. They mesh very well together. I am sure beyond does as well. I use the independent time in Bigger (LA Math and Notebooking) to do LHFHG. It works really well. Then I let the little ones do their Math and the Reading Lesson CD's while I am doing things in Bigger. There is play time for the little ones in there too. It works really well. You'll find your groove. :D Enjoy!

Our first day back was today. We've had a bit of adjusting to do (with some end of the summer grumpiness :) ), but overall the day has been a success. We've picked back up with Beyond where we left off, and after lots of prayer and thought I decided to stick with this program and not make the move to Bigger at this time. I think there's still lots to do in Beyond (the lessons are soooo good!), and I don't want to miss out on them. We'll probably ease into cursive this week or next, and may possibly start up with R & S this year. I just haven't decided if I want to wait on the grammar. I think he's ready, so I don't want to hold him back. There are also the grammar intro lessons in the Beyond manual to do, and we'll probably add in some of the Ruth Heller books and some Mad Libs..

It feels good to have the first day finished, even if it did drag for awhile there at the first!
Moving along at our own pace, and very happy with it!

We started today as well and us too had a bit of grumpiness even though we revamped our room. That must only excite mom! :?
Here it is:

We did the Boom project in Beyond. That was very, very cute, but all in all it was okay. We need some review!!!

Ladies,

I can't believe you're all organized and heading back into school! I am VERY impressed. :D It always takes me awhile to find my groove and get everything running smoothly. There's so much training to be done (character, chore-wise, routine-wise, and educationally) at the beginning of the year, as I'm walking everyone through who does what, when, and where!

I'll remember you all in prayer as you begin a new year. I'm never as together as I want to be, and there are always kinks I need to work out. You all sound like you're moving forward beautifully! :D :D It is definitely a process!

Blessings,
Carrie
