Can someone tell me which "key persons" are taught in BEYOND

Post by Johanna » Mon Jul 28, 2008 9:37 pm

For example: Benjamin Franklin, George washington, John Rofle, John Smith, William Bradford...etc?

I am trying to get an idea of which KEY persons we will be covering or at the very least "mentioning" in regards to American History this year in BEYOND (of which we are very excited to start!).
Thanks!!
Johanna

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but here is how I see it.

Beyond seems to be a kind of overview of early Am. history through events. From what I can see from Bigger, it is more based on biography, so you'll be sure to find plenty of the "famous folks" on your list there. I just bought quite a few of the Nest DVD's this summer, and they seem to fit right in with the Bigger program. I'm really excited to get started with Bigger so that we can use them, and I'm also really looking at that set of Liberty's Kids DVD's on Amazon too. They would go nicely with Beyond and Bigger.
Moving along at our own pace, and very happy with it!

Johanna,

Once you get the 3 key texts for Beyond, you'll be able to see pretty easily the people who are covered in "Beyond...". "Beyond..." is intended to give students a flavor of the time periods and a panoramic view of the people groups who settled in America. "Bigger..." is intended to give a biographical approach of the important men and women in American history. Here 's a partial list of the more famous names found within the stories in "Beyond":

John Smith
William Brewster
Queen Anne
King James
William Bradford
Miles Standish
Priscilla Mullins
John Howland
Francis Billington
Mary Chilton
Samoset
Squanto
Massasoit
Governor Carver
Edward Winslow
King Philip
Benjamin Franklin
Deacon Drowne
Peter Feneuil
Samuel Adams
George Washington
Martha Washington
Betsy Ross
Daniel Boone
Johnny Appleseed
Abraham Lincoln

Blessings, :D
