OT: Prayer request

Post by Jen in Va » Wed Aug 06, 2008 6:36 am

I'm not sure I'll get back here before I have to head out on Friday, so I wanted to make sure I got this on the board while I have time.

I have two prayer requests....

The first, my son will be driving back to college on Monday. It's a nine hour trip for him. He's good about breaking it up with stops every couple of hours, but I'd really appreciate it if you would keep him in your prayers on Monday, the 11th.

The second is that I will also be traveling starting on Friday, August 8 with the plan to return on Tuesday, August 12th--although we may wind up staying on the road that night. I will be driving my father (late 70s, Alzhehimers patient), my mom (late 60s), and my grandmother (95--enough said) to Illinois for my brother's wedding reception. It's about 1700 miles round trip for us (we will be taking two days each way). On our return trip we will be meeting my son--mentioned above--on Monday at his school, touring his campus, and spending the night. My concerns are: Safety on the road, as I've never driven that far alone, but we will be of necessity breaking the trip into bite sized pieces. The larger concern is my dad, and that he will not become confused or anxious on the trip. My mom is quite uptight about the whole thing, and her worries translate themselves rather quickly to me. I need to be strong for them all. Mom has never dealt with money, credit cards, etc. She's never had to until my dad became ill. So most of the burden of this trip will fall on me--all of the driving. I will need sleep at night--pray that I will be able to fall asleep quickly and get restful sleep each night. This would be a first for me, for normally I never sleep well in hotels. Then, of course, there is the whole inter-family dynamic which we face once we arrive in Illinois, but I won't even go into that.

Just know that I (we) very much need and appreciate your prayers for us during this time. Thanks!

Praying that you will feel God's presence with you during your trip, and that He'll be guiding you and keeping you all safe! I'm also praying for your ds. It tugs at my heart to think of my 3 sons doing that type of a drive someday - oh, how time does fly! They grow up quickly, don't they? May God's peace and love surround you.

In Christ,
Julie :D
