Breaking up LHTH?

Post by Momtoamayalilal2 » Wed Jul 30, 2008 4:06 pm

Do you do it all at once or split it up according to what your other dc are doing? For instance, If your older child is doing his bible work...would you do LHTH bible with your preschooler and so on? OR do you just take a 30 min block of time and do it at once?

Thanks!

We've only done one unit, then took a break for summer. When we start back up I plan to just do it all in one block. He enjoys having his school time all together and then he's finished.

Sometimes I break it up and other times I do it all at once. I always do the bible story, finger play and song together and then if their is any dramatizations I do them. If their is an art activity I usually do that at a separate time with my other kids. Sometimes I do the letter activities separately when I am working on handwriting with my older daughter.

It really depends on the day. :-) Sometimes when ds #1 or 2 (or 3 or 4...) is ready for a break I will send them to Gabe and they do his school work with him. If they do it that way, they do a whole unit at a time. I'm not doing a full unit each day with him, though, since he's only two. :-) It takes about fifteen minutes for him to finish his "school." I sometimes print out various things for him to color if he seems to need more, (like he drew a rainbow when we talked about Noah) but generally he's done by fifteen minutes.

My other boys who have done LHTH have done it all in one block. there have been times we break it up-if we have only a minute or two we would do one box only kinda thing, but otherwise we tried to do the whole thing at one sitting.

Thank you so much for the replies! I am happy to know that splitting the lesson up is an option if need be. I have a 9 month old that is on a fairly loose eating and sleeping schedule still, and on some days It would be easier for me to be able to split things up :)

Thanks again!!

Amber,

We've actually done it both ways, so it can work for whatever you need! However, if I did split a day up over 2 days, I always reread the Bible story (as its the glue that holds the lesson together)! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Thanks Carrie! I think I can get a lesson day in one day...just wasn't sure if I could get it done in one sitting but it's nice to know that LHTH is so flexible and that we are going to be able to use according to how our day is going

Thanks!
