Working & HOD

Post by Mgs » Thu Nov 24, 2022 12:52 am

Hello 👋
Has anyone worked part time (2 shifts a week) and successfully homeschooled with HOD? I don’t have much of a choice, so would love to hear if anyone has done it (and thrived). We had another great week!

I work part time, but it is (almost exclusively) from home. The older guides are 4 day units, so it would definitely be possible to do those working two days a week (2 days of work, 4 days of school, and a seventh day). Also depending on hour long your work day is, the age of your kids, and other scheduling considerations, you could possibly do some school work on the days you work. Things like storytime and Dithor might even be enjoyable that way. And the kids could do independent things (if they are older) while your are at work.
If your kids are younger, you could consider starting them at the youngest age for a guide and intentionally taking longer to complete the guides. Depending on childcare while you work, they could still get 5 days of the skill subjects in (math, phonics, and fine motor skills/handwriting).
