World Geography English 1 vs Fund Lit & Engl/Comp
World Geography English 1 vs Fund Lit & Engl/Comp
I have the World Geography Teacher's Guide (bought it in 2020). I'm confused about the options for English. In the front pages it states "English 1 (includes English Grammar, Literature, and Composition - 1 full-year credit) OR Fundamentals of Literature (1/2 credit) and English/Composition (1/2 credit)".
But I don't see the options when I look at the day to day schedule. I only see a box for Literature Study (which includes Fundamentals of Lit and reading books) and a box for Composition/Grammar (which includes the Rod & Staff English book & Essentials in Writing DVD).
When I look at the website, the items for purchasing are: BJU Fund of Lit, Essentials in Writing DVD, Rod & Staff English 7, and the boy/girl book sets.
Can someone help me figure out what the options are?
Thank you, Linda

I'm pretty sure both options are the same; it's just a matter of how you want to list it on your child's transcript. Some prefer to list just one credit of English (which includes both English/Composition & Literature), whereas others prefer to break the two areas apart into two 1/2 credit courses, with one course being called English/Composition and the other Literature.)

Hi Murph!
The options for English are which components you're selecting to use. So, you can do all of the English exactly as written (Grammar using Rod & Staff, Writing using EIW, and Literature Study using BJU + literature books) and give your student 1 credit.
Alternatively, you can choose to only use certain components and give just a half credit. For instance, if you choose to use Rod & Staff and EIW as-written (but choose another route for their English/Literature portion), you can give a 1/2 credit for the HOD portion and they'd earn the other 1/2 credit using whatever materials you had selected for English/Literature. Likewise, if you chose to use just the HOD English/Literature (BJU + literature books), then you'd give your student 1/2 credit for that and then use your own selection for the Grammar/Writing components and give them the other 1/2 credit for those.
Does that clear things up a little?

A follow-up question: Is the second half of Rod & Staff English 7 completed in World History?
