Singapore Home Instructor's Guide

Post by mama4z » Wed Jul 05, 2017 4:03 pm

My daughter will be working through Singapore Math 5 A and B this year and I was wondering if any of you found the Home Instructor's Guide necessary. I did not order it but am wondering if it would be worth having. Any input will be appreciated!

I did buy the guides but I haven't needed them. If you are good at math, then I wouldn't worry about it. But if you are not, the home instructor's guide has a detailed answer key. I found that I haven't needed them but some have found them useful.

I bought the guides after I began to stumble trying to explain to ds how to solve a problem and second guess if I was right about the answer. They allowed me to look at how the problem was solved, sort through their instruction and help ds understand the why sometimes. It did make checking through the work quicker as well so I wasn't solving each problem along the way even though I enjoyed it, fractions were not my thing (though I haven't gotten better now through teaching) and ds was waiting for Dad sometimes to check his work.
