From reading past posts I think I may understand this. The "Reading Choices" box is for them to read to you or by themselves, the "Storytime" box is for you to read together, or for the parent to read to the child. Right? Anyhow, now for the question. If my daughter has finished a phonics/reading program, but still doesn't read very well, is it okay to read the "Reading Choices" portion of the curriculum with her, by alternating pages? She really knows how to read, we still struggle with some bigger words, but more or less, she just doesn't like to read. Any advice on what to do would be appreciated.
Thanks!
advice on reading
I'm not a "certy" teacher but I did get take the course provided by CLE ((which apparently is good enough to teach with in Washington according the hsreviews of CLE)) and I have read Home Education by Charlotte Mason - in her words, not the modern version ....and having read countless post on elist and eboards by others who take turns reading with their child, I think it is a great idea.
If it's better to have one nice row of letters rather than a whole page of sloppy ones, I would think that also applies to reading. A few pages of well read words as opposed to struggling thru a chapter/book by themselves and getting frustrated/ crying etc.

Amy,
You've got the Reading Choices and Storytime boxes correct in your mind! This pattern holds true for all of our guides!
As far as alternating by paragraph or by sentences.... that is a wonderful way to encourage and strengthen reading. It is an often-used strategy and one we suggest!
You're on the right track.
Blessings,
Carrie
