My son will start the AH1 guide in the fall after doing all the guides since Preparing. I always read the lit books ahead of time because I enjoy reading them, and since he can struggle at times with reading comprehension it helps me to guide him if needed. Currently I am reading through the AH1 books, but I am also doing something new in that I am doing the lit journal assignments myself, with the exception of the written narrations, since I am too lazy for that . This has given me a new appreciation for how wonderful these plans really are. They push me to really think about the reading in a different way and to go back and focus on some details that I might have just skimmed over. It is also really helping me to remember what I read. I am one of those that reads a book so quickly that a few months later I might get the same book from the library not remembering I already read it. Having to stop and reflect in a more Charlotte Mason style way has given reading an entirely different focus. As usual Carrie often draws the student to look at scripture also to compare what is in the book to God's word. I just love that. My daughter used several different lit programs and lit guides and I can honestly say none of them compare to the lit plans that Carrie has written for the high school guides. The lit in the WG is of a different style than the WH and AH1 guides, but it sets a strong foundation for the student to succeed in the higher guides.
Once again thank you Carrie for what you do. I am sure that the literature plans take one of the biggest chunks of your time when you write the guides and it would be so easy to just use something that was already written, but I am so glad you didn't!

Re: New appreciation for high school lit plans
Lynn,
Ah! Thanks so much for sharing. I am glad to hear this! The literature is near and dear to my heart, and the plans come from trying many different literature options with my own oldest son. My second oldest son has really enjoyed the literature as scheduled in the HOD High School guides.
Blessings,
Carrie

Re: New appreciation for high school lit plans
First of all - thank you, Lynn! For sharing specifically about what you are enjoying about the literature part of the plans that Carrie has written.
You are so right. The literature part of the plans take Carrie f-o-r-e-v-e-r to write. It is truly a labor of love. When we are trying to get each installment to press, it is always the literature portion that comes to me to edit last, and often late at night, for it is the one that takes Carrie the most deep thought and time. Thank you for your intuitive encouragement here, as Carrie looks ahead to one more year of 2 week deadlines for writing literature plans...
