Why am I having a panic attack????

Post by MarciaA » Fri Jun 27, 2008 8:40 pm

OK...I have undergone such a transformation in the past few weeks and it is culminating right now...I wanted this, prayed for this, so why am I so anxious??????

God has finally answered my prayers for DH to have the desire to hs our ds next year. Praise number 1!!!!

I have been OBSESSING  over curriculum choices for weeks and have stalked every message board and yahoo group out there in hopes of finding the perfect one. God has obviously answered that part too, and I have no doubts HOD/LHFHG is the one for us.

But....I still haven't ordered it. I've added books to "my shopping cart" numerous times, looked for used books, etc., but start to panic as I sit here ready to actually make the purchase. I know this is what God is calling me to, but wow, I didn't think actually committing would be this nerve racking

Oh, where's the carton of ice cream?????
Or, uh, let me start praying.....and I am off to order!!!!!!

Your post made me laugh. We have all been there. Marcia, you just have to order it and see it. Do one day and your anxiety will be over. Probably there is a part of you that just thinks you could not have really found "it" after all the searching. This is the one time you will not be disappointed. It is not too good to be true, it just is what people are saying it is.

YOU WILL LOVE IT!:D

Skip the ice cram and just pull the trigger.

Totally agree with water2wine! Click that order button!

I, too, am an avid researcher. I spent countless hours reading every curriculum guide book, catalog, website, curriculum review site... anything and everything I could find on the internet to read. My husband asked me if I had received the "you've now reached the end of the internet" message! He also said he was starting to get used to my new skin tone - the bluish light reflecting on my face from the computer.

It took just doing one day of Bigger for me to get over that anxious feeling. It is so well laid out, fun, engaging, thorough... I just love it! So much so, that I'm taking the plunge to HS all my kiddos, and will be using Bigger, LHFHG, and LHTH all three when we start back up after summer break.

Really, I'd be surprised if you don't feel much better once you get those books in hand and check it out for yourself. Just DO IT! But, don't skip the ice cream

Ha! This was me last night!! I have been going back and forth between HOD and another curriculum (completely obsessing--ask dh), and last night I FINALLY ordered, but it was all I could do to press the submit button. I'm sure others can attest that the curriculum search is overwhelming, but fun, too. But when it's time to press that button, panic sets in. After all, we're making a definitive decision about one whole year of our children's lives! We love our kids and want to do it right, but always second-guessing ourselves (at least I am)! Anyway, press the button. I'm glad I did, although last night I literally dreamed every page of the HOD catalog....

Congratulations!

Once you get your package, your fears will quickly be put to rest! (I promise) I encourage you to totally let go of this other program. I have done my fair share of greener grass shopping?

Those years, I didn't enjoy ANY program because I was looking for greener grass elsewhere. Embrace this year and know that you can make changes next year, should you choose :D

Also know that as important and FUN as curriculum is, it's not eternal. It will all burn one day! This place, these things are not our home. It's the conversations about the Lord, about life, about love that will stay with your son. HOD will add FUN, continuity, knowledge, biblical insight, but at the end of the day the most important thing you are giving that sweet son of yours is YOU!

"Yet I still belong to you; you are holding my right hand. You will keep on guiding me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth". Psalm 73: 23-25
