I was wondering if Bible reading/studying was scheduled in later years. I have only done LHFHG. I know that there is a Bible scheduled in the emerging readers. I am wondering if after that you say spend a yr reading and studying Proverbs or Matthew that sort of thing. I see that there are cds and devotionals but I am wondering if they ever just read the Bible.
THanks
Sarah
Bible Question
Re: Bible Question
If you look here:

You'll see what is covered in the bible portion of each program. If you want additional reading, you could easily schedule 15 minutes (or more/less) into your school day for just reading.

In Bigger it becomes more than just stories and bible verese. you start looking up words like persistant. Then you find a verse that relates to it. THen in your reading either history and or regualr reading you will learn how it all relates. This is a new way of using/reading our bible. Even I never thought of comparing what I read with the Word.

Sarah,
The ladies have done a good job of answering your question. I'll just add in that the Bible is integrated in so many different ways throughout all of the HOD guides that it's hard to list them all. Once you get to Beyond, the children will go directly to their Bible to read all noted verses, passages, etc. All of the guides past LHFHG include study of entire passages and questions that delve more deeply into those passages and verses. Many, many of the Bible stories read directly from the Bible are woven throughout all of the the various guides, including DITHR!
Bigger works on studying and memorizing from the book of Proverbs and Prepraring works on studying and memorizing from the book of Psalms.
Since we strive to weave the Bible throughout every part of our guide and to apply it directly to what the kiddos are reading and learning each day, we do not schedule kiddos to read straight through a certain book of the Bible in our guides. I agree that this is an excellent goal and is something we enjoy having our kiddos do as well. Since that is the easiest type of Bible to add into your day, I'd recommend adding that on your own. Many families do that for an additional devotional time as a family, or at the supper table before or after the evening meal, or assign it to their kiddos as a personal quiet time to start the day.
The goal of our guides is on teaching kids to go the Bible for answers for every part of their daily living. We want them to know that the Bible applies to them in their day-to-day life and that the truths are what we must live by each day. We want them to hide God's word in their heart, so they can use His word as the measuring stick for all that they read and do.
Hope that helps!
Blessings,
Carrie
