? about extension pack/ boys interest pack?

Post by MamaMary » Sun Jan 20, 2008 8:49 am

If I purchase the "Bigger" program and add the "extension" pack AND the boys interest pack? What is the difference?

Does the Boys interest pack go perfectly with DITHOR? Do I need both? Let me rephrase that, I know that I don't "need" both, but would you use both packages or pick one?

Mary,

The Extension Pack for "Bigger Hearts..." is meant for the student to read independently following the schedule in the Appendix of the "Bigger Hearts..." guide. A daily reading assignment is given. The Extension Pack books reinforce and extend the content from the daily history read-alouds.

The Boy Interest Pack is actually meant for you to read-aloud to your kiddos. You can choose either Boy, Girl, or Classic Pack as read-alouds (or any combination of the titles, just so you have at least one book for each of the 9 genres... Biography, Adventure, Historical Fiction, Fantasy, etc.).

As far as books to use with DITHR... we have Book Packs put together for Level 2 and 3, but have not put together specific packs for the levels above that. So, you may honestly choose any books that suit your kiddo best. We do have some great titles in our book shop, separated by genre, and by reading level to help you in your choices, but any books will work, so go with your kiddo's interests. Here is the link to the Book Shop (just scroll down to see the various genres): http://www.heartofdakota.com/book-shop.php

Hope that helps!

Blessings,
Carrie
