Hi everyone I am already thinking of next year's curriculum for my daughter who will be in Grade 8. We live in Canada. My daughter really loves hands on learning and I am wondering if the Heart of Dakota curriculum will provide her with lots of hands on learning and what are some of the projects she could expect. Are there more projects then she could do? Will there be lots for her to choose from? Appreciate any help. Still not sure which program we will be doing

Hands on Learning
Re: Hands on Learning
All the guides up to the high school guides have weekly hands on projects. They are scheduled in the guide so you don't pick which ones you want to do. They are wonderful projects that use things that you mostly have around the house. If you go to the introduction of each guide and scroll down to the history project description you can see some of the projects. All the guides also have weekly science experiments. Rev to Rev probably has the most hands on science because they use Exploration Education and are building several things and then running experiments with those. This results in almost daily science experiments.
Rev to Rev also has a year long project of a composer's lap book. Other hands on type things in HOD involve notebooking, mapping, and drawing with Draw and Write through History. This isn't a curriculum where you memorize things for a test and move on, or just read books and don't do any follow up activities. It is very Charlotte Mason based and incorporates different parts of her philosophy each year. In MTMM the students do a nature journal. In CTC they do watercolor paintings. It really just varies by guide. There are also lots of wonderful books scheduled in each guide.
