We are finishing up week 4 in the World Geography guide today and it's going well. The first week was a little rough due to my ds figuring things out and the increased expectations, but now he is in a groove and doing pretty well. We have completed the 5 guides before this one. This one is definitely a challenging guide, but it leaves me with no doubts about it preparing him for college. As with all the guides I love how it is all planned out for me. My ds knows exactly what to do and what is expected of him. The resources used are excellent. My ds says the favorite parts of the guide for him are the World Religions and Cultures study, Spanish and Logic. He also has really enjoyed The Archaeology book that is used for the World Geography portion. The DVD's that go with the World Geography are a great additon and really give a great visual to the things he is reading. The science is challenging and moves at a pretty quick pace, but I feel like it is doing a great job of preparing him for Chemistry and Physics which he will take in his Junior and Senior years. The labs are a great addition to the course. I like that they give him practice with calculations and formulas. Most days he does around 6 hours of work. Days of written narrations can be a little longer. My blog has weekly updates of what we are doing each week if you want to see it in action. Just keep in mind my ds has mild Cerebral Palsy with hand tremors so he types things that a neurotypical kid would just write.
