Rod and Staff grammar

Post by Kims » Fri Jul 11, 2014 7:02 am

I have a question about this. Do most of you do it orally with your younger children? My 9yo has had very little grammar and I realized that is one area he is lacking. But there is no way he could write all it calls for. I did buy Easy Grammar for him this year before I realized I wanted to continue with HOD. I do have R&S 2 here.

I do as much orally as possible. With HOD, they recommend doing all of it orally except saving one section for the student to write out. I always pick the one section with least amount of writing for them to put down on paper LOL. For my dd last year, there were days we were running out of time for the day or we had to double up a lesson. On those days, if it was grammar and she could tell me with words very easily, then she didn't do any writing that day. That wasn't ideal but we just didn't have the time that day AND she understood fully AND she could have written it out, I just told her not to. HTH
