Is he ever mentioned or read about in any of the guides? Not finding history curriculum that DO & it's disappointing.

I don't know if he is included or not, but there is a way to easily add his story to HOD without adding to HOD. In Beyond and Bigger as well as in DITHOR, 9 genres of literature are covered. One is biography. There are many Johnny Appleseed/John Chapman biographies out there at a variety of reading/comprehension levels. You could easily use one of these for the storytime in Beyond or Bigger or for DITHOR (where students read the books).

There's also a Jim Weiss CD with his story on it (and Paul Bunyan, and two others).
16yo DD using US History 1 for 11th grade
14yo DS using World Geography for 9th grade
13yo DS using Rev to Rev for 7th grade
10yo DD using Creation to Christ for 5th grade
8yo DD using Bigger for 3rd grade
7yo DD using Beyond Hearts for 2nd grade

We've really enjoyed Johnny Appleseed The Story of a Legend by Will Moses. It was just a fun title I picked up to share with the kids.

Whether it's covered in a curriculum or not, if something's special to you, include it! I really like Stephanie's idea of including it as a DITHOR biography book, or Julie's recommendation on an audio book! (We have that one, too. Its a good one!) Great ideas! ;)
