Hi all,
Just trying to get started with Little Hearts, and was wanting to start out a little slow with my 5 yo. I know some do half speed by doing left side one day and right the next. But, how do you get in phonics, writing and math everyday? Would love any suggestions how to slow our pace a little, but move forward with 3Rs...?
Thanks ladies!

Re: LHFHG half speed?...with 3Rs daily?
Really it is up to you. We are doing Beyond half speed for June and July, and this is how I have it working right now (on Day 4 of the guide):
History reading and activity, and poetry reading (exchange for Rhyme in Motion) on Day A.
Poetry copy work (exchange for FMS), spelling (not in LHFHG), grammar (added), and story time on Day B.
If there is a devotional, then we do it on which ever day seems to work better.
Reading, math, and memory verse daily.
We are using a different math, so we are just doing half a lesson a day. I don't know if splitting the Singapore lesson in half would work or not. I think it would depend on age, interest in math, etc. If you are using the guide for K, there is no reason to get ahead in math, as Singapore is advanced already.

Either split lessons in half, or get ahead on them (especially math, you would just work ahead in the guide, marking the place you are in the math). If you are going to do phonics, math, and writing every day then you would divide up the other boxes in the guide and do 1/2 of them one day and 1/2 of them the next. I think at LHFHG level if you were doing 1/2 speed you should just stick to L side one day and R side the next, that should be more than enough and even though it may be better for phonics to have it every day, that and the memory verse are the only things I might consider doing every day. Everything else, every other day is just fine.

Re: LHFHG half speed?...with 3Rs daily?
I am still new at this .. Lol. My older son did K in ps so this is our first time using Little Hearts. I was under the impression we needed to do 3Rs daily. So, maybe if doing the left side one day Nd the right the next works well we may try that. Maybe with phonics everyday.... Thanks for offering any thoughts as we are starting out. My older son will finish Beyond in 3-4 weeks, so trying to have somewhat of a plan worked out before then.

With a 5 YO boy I don't think you need to be in any rush with those skills, time is your friend in maturing him to be able to handle the next steps. I don't think it would even be mandatory to do phonics every day. It would depend on his readiness. If he is eager and chomping at the bit and obviously ready for the challenge then do it. If he struggles, or doesn't really want to do it, then I would stick to every other day.
