This was our first day reading "Life in the Great Ice Age". Angie couldn't wait for me to start reading it.

She was fascinated just from looking at the pictures. We read the pages listed for the first day. It began with the preface, which would give a background of the story. I could tell it did not interest her too much. Then we read the first few pages of the story, which was fine. She even commented in a disappointed way that we wouldn't be reading further than page 9. When I asked her the questions from the guide, she couldn't answer them at all.

Most of the questions were to be answered by what was in the preface. So, I feel like she didn't even 'get' what was read in the preface. I know she will enjoy the story, but how do you get your child to think about the facts? Part of me wanted to read the preface again, so she could answer the questions

, but I know that would not prove to be helpful. It would be very frustrating. And I know that is not the CM way. Basically what I did was answer the questions for her and explained again what was in the preface. Any suggestions?

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. III John 4
