How is World Geography going?

Post by momtofive » Wed Jan 08, 2014 10:32 am

For those of you who are using the new high school guide, I'm curious how things are going this year? ;)

We're going to be using WG next year, so I'd love to hear how your year is going thus far, and what you think of the guide! Any tips, advice or words of wisdom are greatly appreciated!! :D

Blessings! ;)

Are you going to get to do WG coming up?!? I truly am enjoying our first year of high school together so much, with very little stress and much joy! I am so blessed by HOD, and the best part? My ds thriving both in academics, and also in his relationship with the Lord. :D :D :D

We love it too. It has been a fun year and we've had some great discussions. My son (15 yrs old) is quite dyslexic and dysgraphic so we aren't doing every subject (or working as quickly as some) but I have made some accommodations to his load so that we make it work. This is his first year using HOD and utilizing narration and such, and he is doing great with it. Looking forward to learning about the upcoming World History Guide.

So glad to hear that some of you doing WG are loving it!!

Wow, thanks Julie for all those great links and pictures! :D I agree, that one of the great things about HOD is not only the great educational materials, but that the focus is always kept on Christ and building a growing and maturing faith in Him!! ;) The *heart*, if you will! :D

We are planning on using WG this fall. My oldest will be turning 14 and going in to his first official year of high school (9th gr.). The whole program looks so good, and I'm really looking forward to ordering it soon. It'll be nice to have HOD helping me set out on this high school journey! Not only that, but it'll be FUN!! ;)

Thanks for sharing Cindy, how you are making it work for your son! So glad you're enjoying your first year with HOD! I too, am looking forward to hearing more about the new World History guide, too. They just keep getting better and better! :D

My favorite part to this guide is the Cultures and Religions study. I am seeing some wonderful fruit being produced in my dd's life as a result of reading the real life stories scheduled in this subject. I read them all myself and am changed by them. These books are amazing. I would never have known about them if they had not been scheduled in this guide. I keep telling my husband and my mom what I am learning from them! :D This alone makes the program a winner in my book!

I also love the way the Literature component is organized and scheduled. The Living Library is another favorite. We have tweaked a couple of parts of some of the boxes to suit our family better and it is working very well. I love that you can tweak this program and it does not hurt the integrity of the overall plan.

Bottom line: I think you will be extremely pleased with this year. Most importantly, I believe your child will reap eternal benefits from these studies even more than academic benefits (which are substantial). :D
