help pls? confused with timeline in MTMM

Post by jenn in nc » Thu Sep 12, 2013 2:57 pm

Hi everyone,

We just started MTMM this week and I'm confused about the timeline. The very first day there is a timeline assignment with instructions to make three entries. The first entry is for the Irish Potato Famine, which my son read about earlier in the day when he did his "Reading about History" assignment, so that one made sense to us. But the other two entries are for rulers he hasn't read about yet (Dom Pedro II ruling in Brazil, and the assassination of Alexander II in Russia).

I'm confused... is he supposed to make entries for things he hasn't studied yet? Or am I missing something somewhere?

Hoping someone can point this tired mama in the right direction. :)

Jenn,

The timeline is meant to set the stage for the events and people the student will be reading about within the unit. So, some of the events/people the student will have read about prior to completing the timeline for the unit and some will still be coming somewhere within the 4 days within that unit. The timeline is only completed once in each unit. It serves as either a great preview of what is to come or a good recap of what was just read. :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Okay, that makes sense. I thought I must be missing something. Thanks for the quick reply, I really appreciate it! Now tomorrow morning we can move on with the plans. :)
