We still are not finished with "Beyond" and I'm trying to "relax" and NOT rush to finish, but take it one day at a time.
My daughter loves science and the art program and much to my surprize When I tested her reading she was upper 3rd grade! We are using the Heart of reading program every other month. Yesterday My dd said to my hubby " I just LOVE reading" I think back to the early days of homeschooling when I though this child would never learn to read... and laugh!
Every Friday she insists we read "The Friendly Cow" it is her very favorite poem.
I have also found that when ever we hit a character issue in the lesson plan it is reinforcing what I was saying just that morning.
We had some issues with math this past year and I'm thinking about switching to Math U See. I barrowed some blocks and have been using them with the singapor math and she has greatly improved. Math used to take us three 30 min sessions to get though a lesson. It was terribly frustrating to both of us. She decided one day she couldn't do it and stopped trying. With the addtion of the "blocks" to our lessons the answer is attainable and fun! Case in point yesterdays math lesson took exactly 8 min. She used the blocks for the first 3 questions had an " aha! moment" and finished the lesson with out any more help from blocks or mom.
