WOW!! We finished my dd's kindergarten year today and I'm just here to say, thank-you Carrie for your well-written and God honoring curriculum.
We used LHFHG, as written, with the kindergarten resources, which were perfect. My dd's skills improved in these areas: handling scissors, cutting and pasting, art (no more stick figures), reading (she now reads), listening comprehension, handwriting, following directions, bible verse memorization, self-expression, creative thinking and math. I can honestly say, that not only has my dd grown and learned tons this year, but so has mama. My dd loved hearing stories from America's past, learning about and doing science, math and by the end drawing and handwriting. We used RME for phonics, so there was plenty of opportunities for her to develope her drawing skills, which were non-existent before we started. By the end of the program she had deciphered the box symbols, so she knew what type of activity were doing (science, thinking skills, dramatic play or art), with science being the hands down favorite!
My only regret is that I did not slow the program down so that we could savor it and she could more slowly grow into the skills, but I learned my lesson and we will slow down the next two programs and stretch them out over three years. Oh well, live and learn.
The best accomplishment of the year was when my dd made a confession of faith and placed her trust in the Lord Jesus. My heart fills with joy knowing that she is safely in the Lord's hands and now her real spiritual growth can begin.
When gave my dd the two week notice of the end of the school year she asked if we could go right into 1st grade with no break! That's the best testimony she doesn't want it to end. May God continue to bless you Carrie and your family, as He has surely blessed us through you.
