We just wrapped unit 21 in LHTH, so we are now in the New Testament!

I'm a little overdue in "wrapping up" our weeks  Being new to HoD, we're still wading through the "placement" waters  . I think I've finally gotten this figured out

Dusty,
I loved your 'Yellow' pages, your toothpick stables, and your tape day 'Q'. You are such a creative momma! :D It IS exciting to be in the New Testament and to be reading about Christ's birth! :D I loved your field trips too.

Homeschooln2qts,
I enjoyed reading your update! I agree that it can take some time to find just the right fit in HOD for each child. You're so right that the skills make a big difference in how well a child can do in each guide. You are such a good momma to take the time and energy to figure out where each of your children fit best. :D I know you will find that once you've matched your child to the right developmental level guide, your kiddos will soar! :D Correct placement makes a huge difference in how successful HOD is for families, as each guide is more difficult than the previous one as we work to target needed skills and independence in incremental steps. :D I'll look forward to your update when you get a chance. :D

TLCA,
I'm so glad to hear that your little honey enjoyed her second week of CTC! It looks like she is having so much fun! I enjoyed seeing her animal track's page and her notebook. Both are turning out so well! You have a little artist on your hands. :D While you can easily use store bought clay for upcoming projects, before you bypass the upcoming recipes for dough/clay in the guides I will share that we have found that our boys have learned much about how to follow recipes and about what to add if needed to get a desired consistency for the clays in the guide. It has taught them so much about making things from scratch and what to do when things don't turn out as planned! :D I think of this as a life skill. Our goal for the projects within HOD are that they be as much about the process as the product! :D

Blessings,
Carrie

Carrie,

Thank you soooo much for your encouragment and confirmation of what has been on my heart. I am thankful BEYOND WORDS for this curriculum and for the precious time and love that you have put into creating it. I can just feel the love of Jesus Christ ooozing through every part of it. I feel like I can finally say, "I am home." :D

We're on the 2nd day of Preparing with my oldest and already I am convinced that this is the perfect placement for him --YAY!!! We are enjoying Grandpa's Box so much. It's made for some really wonderful conversations between the both us already (which has made the school-day go a little longer than usual -but I dont care!) I feel like I'm connecting on a heart level again with my sweet boy and I'm seeing the eyes of his faith opened up again. Oh what a rich and wonderful treasure HoD is! I just can't thank you enough!!!

Carrie, excellent point! :) I suppose I will just take it on a project by project basis----and if it is something that needs to stand upright, we may just have to use the store bought then. LOL :)

My daughter got a big smile on her face when I told her that you ("the lady who wrote the whole CTC guide" :) ) enjoyed seeing her work. She is enjoying our start to this year so much. I know it's only been three weeks......but she has already asked, "Mom, do they have this for fifth graders?" (she's in "fourth") and "Mom, don't forget we are going to be doing CTC all year! Don't forget, okay?!" LOL :D

Thank you for your sharing your time and thoughts with us! Thank you for all your work----it is (as are you) a blessing!
