We had a busy, fulfilling week. I got to teach my nephews this week for a few days, along with my dc, which totaled 7 boys. It was a week full of fun and work at the same time. I wish I'd thought to take my camera to their house, but forgot it. :? Anyway, I know now that HOD can truly be done with a lot of dc doing a lot of different pages of the plans. The older dc were so helpful, and the little ones were very good overall, so that certainly helped. Anyway, I have some understanding of those of you homeschooling many dc now, and my hat goes off to you amazing ladies! I did the pilot of the new HOD program with Cole (14 yo), CTC with Shaw (10 yo), CTC with Wyatt (10 yo), Beyond with Grey (7 yo), Beyond with Riley (6 yo), and LHTH with Beau (3 yo) and Emmett (2 yo). WHEW! We still managed to have the afternoons for playtime together though, and that thought spurred them all on to work hard to finish school on time. Here's a bit about my dc's week...

Creation to Christ:
Wyatt and I are still loving God King and having a hard time waiting to read it each day together. Wyatt made a map and labeled it with flags for his history project this week:

He also did a neat job on his poetry painting and quote. Emmett couldn't resist being in the picture too! :)

Beyond Little Hearts:
Riley continues to enjoy American Pioneers and Patriots. He liked the "hide and seek" game in math, where he had to guess what numbers were hidden behind the sticky notes on the squares of the 100's chart. What a simple, yet effective activity for teaching this concept! He really liked painting his apple tree for his history activity:

Little Hands to Heaven:
Emmett is on to the letter "D" this week, and is now into learning about Jacob in Bible history. He loved gluing his noodles on his big "D", and he keeps saying more and more of his fingerplay.

I hope you all had a wonderful week!
In Christ,
Julie

Hi ladies! It's been awhile since I've posted a week in review - but that doesn't mean we haven't been working hard. :D My kids (and I) continue to LOVE HOD! It's been a blessing in the past few weeks because I've been so busy with other things in the afternoons & evenings, that having an "open & go" guide for both kids is AMAZING!

Both kids completed Unit 13 for ds6 in LHFHG & for dd3 in LHTH this week.

My ds6's favorite activity of the week was making bread yesterday (unit 13/day 4) to go along with our story of the miracle of Jesus feeding the 5000 with only 5 loaves & 2 fish. Ds6 loved squishing the ingredients in the Ziploc and eagerly kneaded the dough for about 2 minutes until he asked me to take over. (That's a great workout for little arms and great messiness for a child who has sensory issues!)

HIs finished product was delicious! We all had some for an afternoon snack and then he had another piece at dinner. Mmmm!

When my husband came home last night, he asked if I had done it in my breadmaker...ha! I told him we did it the "old-fashioned" way. :D

Dd3 absolutely enjoys her school and is always asking, "Can I do more activities?"

She made "sheep" from cotton balls this week and added little pink eyes to them to go along with her Bible story about David. I was proud of her cutting (the clouds) and coloring carefully to stay in the lines of the stream I had drawn for her to color.

Julie I am so spoiled with only having one at home, I can't imagine schooling all those varying ages, even if it was for just a few days.

We finished Week 15 of Preparing. I posted my frustrations on the other board so this week in review will focus on all the positives this week. Since singing and listening to music are two of Noah's favorite things the bible memory verses this week were very easy for him to understand. We start each morning with him picking one christian song to listen and dance to.

I am noticing that cursive is becoming easier and easier for him which is a big deal. I didn't know if we would ever have the ability to write where people could read it. The copy work is really helping. He now has difficulty going back to writing manuscript, but that is ok.

He is soooo excited about the Find the Constellations book. He now does Science as one of his first things because he can't wait to do that book. He did a great job on answering his science questions and really took his time drawing the big dipper and big bear constellations.

We weren't sure that our trireme was going to sail, so he was thrilled when it actually worked.

He also had a great time doing the science experiment and he was really excited because it was one of the first times he guessed the correct outcome. Of course the science experiment was more fun because our one cat loves to chase lights from flashlights so she had to be right up on the table trying to catch our "star".

I wasn't going to report anything this week due to time constraints, but I just had to share this. We were at our big extended family Christmas party today and all of a sudden little J started chanting "B says bhh, B say bhh." LHTH is truly sinking in. :)
