Ok Girls,
What was YOUR week Like?
You can post:
a- A picture
b- A blog Link
c- A written synopsis
d- Your favorite memory
e- Anything you want that shares your HOD excitement!
Important Note: If you are linking us to your blog, please make sure it's not just a general link, but to your specific post of HOD. That way if someone reads through these a year from now they can find your share without needing to hunt!

Resurrection to Reformation Unit 5
Enjoyed another week with RTR. Things went rather long this week so I'm going to really try to tweak the schedule a bit and see where I can help him. The extension in Medieval Writing and the Reading Extensions seem to be adding more time than I think they are supposed to. I do think Medieval Writing is a great program though. In fact my son was proud of the paragraphs that he wrote this week and said I should post them when he gets the final draft done. Gotta love it when they feel good about their work!
Preparing Hearts for His Glory Unit 5
My daughter is doing very well with Preparing. She has really gotten into a groove with it and does work ahead at night sometimes. She is usually done fairly early. I love the little writing assignments in Poetry. It is so fun to see what she comes up with all on her own.
These cactus pictures from Unit 4 got placed in the wrong folder last week so I missed them. She LOVED the cactus Science experiment.

After having a bit of a flip out over homeschooling, we have enjoyed preparing this week. We have been doing the salt dough maps, which the kids really enjoyed. And my son has surprised me by loving the poetry and going as far as wanting write his own!!
We can be found at www.anne-homeschooladventures.blogspot.com .

Catching up from this summer as well as this week. We are having a blast in Beyond as usual!
July
Making grasshoppers - edible, no less
August
The boys had a blast making a flag (4 1/2 yr old always tags along). It was even more fun eating them!
Illustration of "The Star Spangled Banner" from unit 24
Illustration of "The Flag Goes By" from unit 26. DS always has to put a lot of detail from the poem in. He had the cutest face on his bugle boy, but then he colored it too dark to see.
Doing an experiment to see the colors of fireworks in unit 26. I have used soy milk in the past for experiments and it doesn't always work. This time I bought half and half (we were going to have peach cobbler and I couldn't resist) and it turned out great. The photo doesn't show the colors as well as they really looked. Yikes, don't look at the mess in the background
Finally, project from unit 26 in which he listed traits God wants us to have inside his "heart." What a cute project. DH was in charge that day and he cut out the shirt because he didn't understand the instructions DS cut it out and colored it though.
The batteries from my camera went out this morning while we were making corn bread, but it was good for lunch!

Im so excited to be beack. We moved [YAY] -we are nearly unpacked and we are finishing up LHTH and Beyond .I so wanted to not skip a step whilst we were moving-but sometime -around the beginning of August I realised I was not SuperMum and I had to pack up the schoolboooks in order to pack up the rest of the house and get it lovely and clean for the new owners.
However we started back this week.Partly -I really wanted to do the whole-new year -New curriculum shebang .I realised that actually finishing up those last couple of weeks of Beyond-would be a far better transition for a my little guy who hates changes and surprises...and who would want to miss any of those wonderful moments in Beyond.
Not many pictures but
Beyond week 28 -Measuring out Johhny's Rifle.
LHTH week 26
The king preparing the wedding feast for his Son.
Stanley does 'school ' quite early ...and out DD -who is 15 prefers a more leisurely start to the day.It worked out perfectly for this re-enactment .We invited her-[knowing that at this early time-there was NO WAY she would be down to play tea parties]-then of course we could go out into the street and invite anyone who would come

Posted my weekly wrap up this morning. It's on week 9 and 10 of Bigger. http://ourhomeschoolreviews.blogspot.co ... de-10.html
Re: Week In Review Sept.05,2011 to Sept.09,2011
We completed Unit 5 in CTC. I've changed my schedule a bit as we're going pretty long. Other than going long, we are on target with everything else. DD LOVES The Story of the Ancient World and she's understanding the prophecies vs fullfillment chart. So I'm jazzed she's understanding that. Waterpainting is a hit as well and she's getting better painting with water as opposed to using full-out paint.
I bought two of those picture frames that house kids' homework so I can change her paintings out easily.
DD is also enjoying Apologia zoology, still coming to me with, "Mom! Guess what!" Pretty much, dd is enjoying everything, I'd say except the 3 R's. The What in the World audio we listen to on the way to our karate class.

Hi:)
This is our first official year homeschooling and we just finished our first week. It's also our first time with HOD. I'll admit to feeling a bit uncomfortable in my own skin. My daughter, who is 8, has been hyper and life has been intruding in such a way that I've felt out of sorts.
With all that said, I've really enjoyed the curriculum! It is helping to keep me on track and focused despite everything being thrown at me.
We are doing Beyond and my daughter is fully engrossed in the history lessons and Bible stories. We've been reading Helen Keller for story time and it is killing her to have me parcel it out a bit at a time (frankly, it is hard on me too! hehe) but it is keeping her on the edge of her seat and that is really saying something for a girl who has a hard time paying attention:)

Re: Week In Review Sept.05,2011 to Sept.09,2011
We really enjoyed our first week of Beyond and LHTH ! Like a previous poster I had my doubts if the curriculum would be enough for my quickly advancing 7 year old, but it definitely is "beefy" enough to keep her engaged but not to the point where it is overwhelming. Thank you Carrie for striking this great balance!
Since we started on Labor Day dh had a chance to participate in homeschooling
Here daddy reads the bible story to his little girl
It was also our first experience with Singapore Math- and so far we like it!
We had a blast trying out the blubber experiment to see how it insulates whales from the cold water. Right hand with shortening, left hand without.
There was definitely a wow factor there! Friday was a big hit with the craft activity. But the biggest blessing was that both girls had fun learning the scripture verses and thanked God for doing school at the dinner table I am looking forward to another week.

Beyond- dd 7

Re: Week In Review Sept.05,2011 to Sept.09,2011
Wonderful week!
RTR
I only took 3 pics this week, but they are of some pretty great work!!! We finished up Unit 7, Day 2 for this week.
I am super proud of the way my 7th grader is writing now. Here is one of his Science written narrations. He had very little to work with in the book, but he came up with clever thoughts of his own to add to the narration.
And THIS is one of his essays in progress (rough draft with edits) from the Medieval writing lessons! I am astonished at the level of work he is putting out from using this curriculum! These are mostly his own edits to his work. That is HUGE for us as he really struggled over the years to edit his own work.
And finally, a couple of his maps from geog. He enjoys doing these and is learning a ton!
The absolute best part of the last few weeks has been reading the Viking Quest - Book 2. My son loved this book so much that he read the first book at night on his own. We finished the reading (read ahead by one day) and that night, he started book 3. He is now starting book 4. These books are so God honoring and so very interesting and easy to read. It is up there with my all time favorite HOD storytime books ("Come on Seabiscuit, "God King," and "Follow My Leader").
