More questions

We have previously been using Saxon math, will probably be starting Bigger HFHG in a few months. Are the hands on maths lessons in HOD designed to fit in with singapore math? or can we stay with Saxon?

Also, what do people plan to use when they finish HOD, for the older years? I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I'm a person who like to have a plan

Hello there ! I have read that you can easily use any math program you like and do the activities only if you wish. I haven't used HOD yet, but I have read that on previous threads. We are planning on doing the same thing.
I don't know about your other question, but I am sure someone else will answer it for you!

Hi Annie,

You can use them all by themselves. I use Time4Learning math, but LOVE the icebreaker idea's.

However, they fit PERFECTLY with Singapore but can be used all by themselves

As far as after HOD, you shouldn't have to worry until your oldest gets to High School. Preparing is coming out in the fall and there are plans for 4 more guides to come out over the next 4 years.

If Saxon works for you, stick with it. Just skip the math activities in your HOD manual. But it's nice to know that you have a "back-up plan" in case you ever hit a wall with what you are using

If you ever decide to switch to Singapore Math, be sure to use the placement test on their website, as the scope and sequence is quite different from other programs, and your child's ability may not match the grade number. Also, keep in mind that in the country of Singapore, they begin Primary Math 1A at age 7.

Hi Annie! I just wanted to say that the hands-on math activities match Singapore 2A and 2B. The Appendix lists a schedule for Singapore 3A/3B as well, and otherwise, you can just sub in Saxon too. Once you get the Bigger... guide you can check out the math and see what you think. I will say we love the hands-on math activities, and as Mary said, they are great ice-breakers. Like Lourdes said, even if you stick with Saxon, it's nice to have a back-up plan!
