Re: Oh my I just figured it out but with one problem

Great! I'm glad you were able to work it out. We love the Burgess Thornton books, too. I hope you and your little one have a great year doing LHFHG. Now that you have story time worked out, do you still need help figuring out how to do 2 guides? Edited to say -- I reread your original post, and want...

Re: Oh my I just figured it out but with one problem

I'm just curious and have a couple of questions for you.

How did you utilize the books when you read them? Did you read through them for pleasure at a quick pace or a chapter at a time?

How long ago did you read them?

Re: Looking at my options

Thanks for the responses. It's so encouraging to get a fresh perspective from other mothers who are familiar with the program. I was thinking I might be able to save time by combining my older students, but that's probably not that's not a wise solution since they're properly placed. Nealewill, if I...

Re: Looking at my options

Also, what are their ages? They fit within the age range of the guide, from a just turned 11 year old, and then a 12 and 13 year old. I don't have an answer, but I am wondering how much less work it will be to run one guide vs two for the older ones. You would be doing R2R and Rev2Rev. You have alr...

Looking at my options

I'm wondering what I can do. I started HOD by combining my oldest three in LHFHG, so we've been with the program from the beginning. The last guide this sibling group did together was Preparing. Last year I decided to let my oldest skip CTC, and do Res to Ref. The younger two did CTC. My kiddos love...

Re: BHFHG Unit 2 Art project question

There are a couple of ways to do this. While the paint is wet on the paper, crumple up the plastic wrap into a loose wad , apply, and lift. You can do it a section at a time or do the whole page at once with a larger wadded sheet of the plastic wrap, The plastic wrap will leave an interesting impres...

Diary of Ann Frank

I'm just curious if this book will be scheduled in any of the high school manuals.

I guess only Carrie or Julie would know the answer to this question.

Re: Carrie and Julie's Dad

I want to share the verse that our youngest son has been memorizing this week in school. He is in Unit 14 of Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory: Matthew 25:21 – His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into ...

Re: HOD vs BJU

If you're using something that works for you in math and phonics, I would encourage you to keep using it. I have always a different math other than what HOD recommends. No problem.

Have you looked at the placement chart yet to determine the guide you'll be going with?

Re: LOVE Little Hands to Heaven - THANK YOU

Isn't HOD just wonderful? I'm so glad you're pleased and that it's working well for you both.

We've been using HOD for years now, and there are times when I'm just speechless.

I hope your joy continues throughout the program!

Re: Why don't all guides use Apologia??

My 5th and 6th graders have enjoyed doing Apologia in the CTC and RTR guides. I like the books, too, but I think older students glean more from them.

I really like HOD science in the early years. The topics change throughout the year and keep science fresh and interesting.

Re: First Day Fiasco

I'm sorry you felt your first day was a fiasco. I just want to encourage you to look at this from a different perspective. I never expect much the first week or two since we're just easing into things. Research is a box that I know will improve by the end of the year. Remember, these are skills he n...

Re: HOD Science

Thanks for the info, Lynn. Since the Tiner booker is geared toward middle school, then it should be an appropriate reading level for her.

I am so glad she is enjoying her science and wants to learn more.

Thanks.

Re: HOD Science

Yes, she did Preparing and we all enjoyed Finding the Constellations. My dh has the constellation app on his phone and that was my absolute favorite! Thanks for mentioning that because it could be of interest to others. I think it's the planets, though, that really intrigue her. I think I read somew...
