DITHOR - How many pages?

We'll be starting school next week & I'm looking ahead to our DITHOR selections. How many pages do you usually schedule? My son is 10 yo. The books I have picked out are generally marked 4th-6th grade level. My first plan was to use two books for the first genre - one for 10 days, the other for 5 - ...

Re: Need Your Help!

I'm not much help since we're starting our first HOD in a few weeks, but I'd love to hear how your show & tell day goes. I'm the leader of our local group for the first time this year so I've been brainstorming everyone for ideas.

Anyone started Preparing?

If anyone has started their Preparing guide, I'm curious about how it's going. (We plan to start Aug. 25) How long is your day taking? Any photos of the coat of arms activity yet? I'm going to try doing it in the order it's listed to start - left column, right column, bottom. We might have to figure...

Thanks Janet,

Can you tell me where you found this?
In the Walmart Fabric section. It wasn't really a tablecloth - just a roll of vinyl that they cut to length.

Re: Geography question/MFW Exploring Countries and Cultures

My kids are a little older, 10 & 14. We did ECC last year (before I found out about HOD) & I think we all enjoyed it, but I'm not sure how much my 10 yo retained. What really seems to stick more in my kids' minds is current news geography. We keep a world map on our dining room table, under a clear ...

Anyone else still waiting for Preparing?

Anyone else still waiting for their Preparing Guide? I'm losing my patience with the Postal System. (I was outside waiting for the mailman today in 100 degree weather.)

New Books!

We won't start with Preparing until August - so I don't have a review yet. But, I just couldn't help taking a picture when I was organizing our shelves yesterday. Is there anything more fun than NEW BOOKS??!!!

A neat freebie to go with the Louis Braille book

I found a neat freebie online if you're using the Louis Braille book in the level 3 pack. They'll send you a "Braille Bug alphabet card" plus there's a lot of general information about reading braille on their site.

DITHOR - do you let your kids pick their books

We'll be starting DITHOR in August or September. I've decided to start with Biography (mostly because it's my favorite). Do you usually let your kids choose their DITHOR books or pick one for them? I've started collecting the biographies from our own shelves & a few from garage sales, paperback swap...
