Hooray! Glad you're excited! You ladies have me cracking up about these UPS men arriving... we're probably the only people that meet them at the door of their trucks! We did Beyond.. last year - you're going to have a GREAT year!

I agree with Melanie, that Beyond... would probably be a good fit for a typical 1st. and 3rd. grader. You can certainly do it with subbing in your own LA and math. You just won't do those "boxes" in the plans. The Emerging Reader's list is great though, as well as DITHR, and you may still want to do...

So true, Mary! That would be frustrating! I totally get what you are saying. Carrie always writes one guide a year, and only makes changes to previous ones if books go out-of-print. So, you can take the plunge and place your order with full confidence!

Hi Mary! I am using Little Hearts..., Bigger..., and DITHR - so you just described my day! That covers all of the children I am homeschooling though, so I'm not sure if you have other children you are schooling as well. If not, I can say 100%, for sure, you can do all 3 easily. Our days are very enj...

Congrats, Mindi! That is very exciting, and I pray you have a wonderful day together! Remember, you are beginning a great adventure - maybe the most important decision you've made so far, next to giving your heart to God... or marrying your husband... this is IMPORTANT stuff! This great adventure ca...

It's nice to meet you, Sharon! I think the Placement chart will be helpful in giving you more information, but from my experience, Beyond... does a super job of preparing children for Bigger... I wasn't sure my son would make the switch to Bigger... because he just loved Beyond... so much; however, ...

I'm so happy for you, water2wine!!! We're using Bigger... now and having a great year too. Isn't that so exciting when our kids are as excited as we are about a program? I've used other programs that didn't have that effect on me or my children too, and it was probably good for me so I remember to a...

Hi Allison! Sounds like you've got a good plan! I just wanted to encourage you by mentioning that most of the moms I know that are starting DITHOR with a fourth grader tend to start with Level 2/3 anyway. If their children haven't been in DITHOR before, it gives them a great foundation to move into ...

Hooray, Mary! I'm so glad for you, and I think your plan sounds like a great fit for you and your kiddos! You know we're doing LHFHG and Bigger... this year too, and loving it. Hope you enjoy it like we do!

Hi BlessedMomof4! I was just reading over your post and had to smile because I had that exact same thought when I was doing Beyond... last year and looking ahead to Bigger... But, guess what? I did decide to begin with Bigger... this year, and while the first month took a bit of adjustment, it is a ...

Hip! Hip! Hooray! I'm so excited about Preparing Hearts...! We'll be doing it next year, and it's fun to take a peek at it. It's a little bit like opening a present... thanks for all of your hard work, Carrie! It makes my homeschool a happier place to be, for both me and my kids. I can envision what...

This is fun to read, and makes a lot of sense! I am a Betty... I bet a lot of Betty's respond to this post first - just because of our nature to do so. I do have a few shades of Olive; I do like "routine", but maybe that's because I like to keep routine things simple (more like Betty). I also just h...

Hi! So sorry I'm just getting back to you here! My little guy had a hospital stay today - he's doing fine now. Anyway, these ladies gave you some great advice to ponder already! We've really enjoyed doing Little Hearts... over 2 years because we've been able to focus on phonics, just as you mentione...

Hi Robin! It's nice to meet you! We did Beyond... last year, and we're doing Bigger... this year. They're both awesome programs, so the good news is, you can't go wrong no matter what you choose! You got some great advice from Melanie and netpea. I think that if your child is right between Beyond......

Hi Mary! I just wanted to chime in here and welcome you to the board! I think we "chatted" on the other board too, and I'm so glad to "see you" here! I have 3 boys as well. They keep us busy, don't they?!? I just got home from church, and I feel like I had an hour-long aerobic workout! I read throug...
