Re: Advice PLEASE!!!

We have had those months too! Love the beans and cornbread months!! I would do a Bible Study with him, you can get spelling words, memory verse, etc from your selections and if you have a child's Bible he can practice his reading. I would utilize the library as well. Also, there are some great...

Re: Need help with ds 9's negativity

Hi, I want to recommend a book that I have been reading by John Rosemond called Parenting by the Book. He is a psychologist who does 'not use psychology if that makes sense. I have recommended it 3 times or so lately on this board, so if you've read about it I am sorry. I can't say enough good about...

Re: Behavior issues

Lourdes, I don't have much wisdom of my own to share with you, but I have been reading a book by John Rosemond called Parenting by the Book , Biblical wisdom for raising your child...and I can highly recommend it. I can insert that responding with great patience is not what she needs from you, and n...

Re: CTC questions & behavioral issues

I am reading a book by John Rosemond right now called Parenting by the Book - Biblical Wisdom for Raising your Child, and it is amazing. He is a psychologist who reveals the flaws with psychology and does not use psychology. Sounds paradoxical, but it has helped me realized how I have let so much ps...

Re: Problems from not "keeping my eyes on my own paper"

Thank you ladies so much for your replies! I have decided to use the Christian Liberty Press K Phonics, readers, and Math. I know that HOD uses alot of CLP resources, and my oldest dd used CLP before we switched to HOD last year. I know the quality is good and it will be the level he needs so that h...

Problems from not "keeping my eyes on my own paper"

Hi Ladies, I was reminded by a lady on Christian radio this morning that we moms need to "keep our eyes on our own paper" when it comes to parenting and doing our best according to the differing needs of our children and our families. I think that especially applies to those of us who homeschool and...

Re: No school In Almost 2 Months! AHHH!

I agree with naptime...I don't feel guilty for taking a quick nap a few times a week when the younger ones rest if my "chores" are done. I find that a bit of rest makes me more productive throughout the rest of the day!! Glad you are starting to feel better!!

Re: 15 month old- HELP?

I'm not sure how much time you are needing for school, but if it is say 1 hour, maybe you could get your youngest in a routine like snack -15 minutes, mega blocks- 15 minutes, lace-n-trace-15 minutes, magna doodle - 15 minutes. That is just my suggestion because I know mine loved mega blocks, magna ...

Re: O/T Creative Writing

Thanks for your feedback! Cirons, I think putting it in a diary would be wonderful and if she thinks we're going to keep it in a special place, maybe she wouldn't become discouraged over some spelling corrections...What a great idea! Julie, she will write from time to time, not on a daily basis, but...

O/T Creative Writing

Hi, my oldest dd8 in Bigger loves to write stories on her own. I need to add... that is the only time she loves to write. I love for her to express her creativity in this way and I don't want to discourage her, but her spelling needs so much improvement (to put it kindly). She is doing well wi...

Re: Bigger Handwriting ?

My dd is in Bigger and and is doing Cheerful Cursive. I have a hard time getting her to do one opage at at time since she loves it so much! :D Anyway, I have her print her R&S english, dictation and sometimes her memory verse, so that she still get that printing practice that needs.

Re: Any Book Series suggestions for 7 yr old?

We read a book in the Happy Hollisters series by Jerry West last year when my daughter (and I) were not enjoying one of the read alouds in Beyond for the mystery genre. We both enjoyed it very much and I think it might have even appealed more to a boy than it did to her. I would recommend checking o...

It sounds like you are doing plenty! I would not worry about it, though I would definitely retreat in 7 days as the instructions recommend. I "over" reacted  and it sounds like you are "reacting" properly :D

Re: I'm 40...what a day...

Yikes...LICE!!! Last summer, after half the kids came back from Camp Westminster (church camp)...half the kids in church turned up with lice about a month later...including mine! After freaking out, vacuuming six or seven times a day, laundering EVERYTHING daily, bagging rugs, stuffed animals, etc. ...
