Grammar for 2nd grade?
I am currently spreading BLHFHG over a 2 year period for my twin daughters for 1st and 2nd grade. They are doing well and are enjoying the curriculum. We are currently doing the right side of the plans everyday and the left side every other. I am looking at the fact that we will be done with the gra...

Re: I upped him in Grammar...what do I do now for PHFHG?
Julie and Carrie- Thank you for your timely advice and suggestions. I decided to do R & S 3 at half-speed for the remainder of the year, and we will probably continue to do a slower pace next year with R&S 4 as well. My son was very happy with the change.

I upped him in Grammar...what do I do now for PHFHG?
We are currently working in BHFHG with my 3rd grader. I initally started out the year with R&S 2 for his grammar, but he started complaining that it was too easy and that he wasn't learning anything. So I bumped him up into the R&S 3. He doesn't like grammar in general, so it isn't his fav anyway. T...

Re: Nebraska Homeschooling ???
My sister lives in Omaha, and she just started homeschooling her two oldest children right after Christmas. She has visited a group that may be the Nebraska Christian Home Educators. I probably have the name wrong. I can ask her, if you want to PM me, and I'll let you know exactly where she has been...

Re: vocabulary Question BHFHG
We noticed the same typo. I usually let my son choose which two words he would like to complete, and this was one of his picks. We changed the word to "standard" as well.

Re: Afternoons, socialization, and a philosophy of life
I can totally relate to what you are facing with overloading your schedule and losing other important things in the bargain. We have really nipped our extra-curriculars in the bud as a result of budget cuts (if you catch my meaning there.) Even scaling down in that regard, we still find that park da...

My dd and spelling...is she ready?
My twin dds are 6 years old and in 1st grade. We have been working in Beyond at half-pace for nearly 4 wks. now. One of my dds is doing very well in her spelling. She is a strong reader and is progressing so quickly with the remainder of TRL. Her sis has struggled with her phonics and reading. She i...

Re: what to do for this year
I think what Rebecca said is a good idea. Doing Bigger half-pace until you feel he is ready or even keeping that same pace and working thru it over the next 2 yrs are both feasible. My twin daughters are in 1st and using Beyond at half-pace for 1st and 2nd grade. I had used Beyond with my oldest son...

Re: Starting LHFHG on Tuesday
I used LHFHG with my twin daughters last year for K and Beyond with my son for 2nd. I also have a 2 yr. old son who adds his own energy to the mix to make things more interesting! We loved LHFHG and got thru each day without too many problems b/c my youngest took a nap late in the am. THIS year he d...

Re: Luuucy, you got some splaining to do.
I have twin daughters, 6, who are currently doing Beyond for 1st grade. We used LHFHG last year for K and loved it. At the beginning of the year, it seemed like the material was over my dds' heads, but I soon watched them blossom and grow under the wonderful teaching. However, I decided that Beyond ...

Re: Placement question -- between LHFHG 1st or Beyond
Joy, I am using Beyond with my twin girls for 1st grade this year also. We finished LHFHG last school year, but I felt like they weren't quite ready for the full jump into Beyond in most areas. I am spreading Beyond over two years for them. We are doing 1st grade options from LHFHG (Thinking Skills ...

Re: GA HODies and all you other HODies too! :)
I attended the GA conference on Friday and was wonderfully blessed to meet both Julie and Carrie. I also met jensmom and was able to put faces to names! It was great! Julie, thanks so much for helping me with my mammoth order. We got started 1/2 pace today b/c my kids couldn't wait. They actually wa...

Re: Little Hearts spelling and math questions....
Kristin- We just finished LHFHG with my twin dds for K. They turned 6 in December and did very well. We used the K option for Science and loved it. I "heard" that it is better compared to the 1st grade. I don't think it will be too much of a difference if you used the K book instead of the 1st grade...

Re: Atlanta Homeschool Expo
I'm planning on coming to the Expo on Friday. I'll be attending with a friend, so I'm not sure how free my time will be. But I would love to meet some fellow HODies. The idea to get together at another time sounds great as well! See you on Friday, maybe!
