To give another view on combining, I'm going to borrow from an older post that I responded to awhile back ... We are using "Bigger Hearts..." this year with my second son and "Little Hearts..." with my just turned 5 year old. We're stretching "Little Hearts..." out over 2 years, due to having a youn...

Darci, We have a Greyson too! Ours is 5 and doing LHFHG. I don't see many with that name or spelled with an 'e'. You must have excellent taste in names  I wish we'd have our guides written so I could use them for my oldest too, but the research and writing takes so long that we don't get to us...

Ronda, Both "Little Hearts..." and "Preparing Hearts..." are 1 year overviews of Bible history intertwined with world history, so some of the beginning parts of both will match. However, the last chunk of "Little Hearts..." has a strong American history focus and "Preparing Hearts..." will instead h...

jamieswife, I think the history, Bible, timeline, mapping, and most of the read-alouds would be plenty as long as you use the Extension Pack. Some or most of the history projects may also work, depending on whether we add Extensions to that. For literature if you use "Drawn into the Heart...", you'd...

Tansy, Thanks so much for sharing this! I'm sure your daughter will enjoy looking back on her book as she gets older. In my earlier parenting days I did a lot of scrapbooking for my boys. They pore over those albums now that they're older. Your daughter's book will be even more meaningful because sh...

I've got a few minutes now to answer your questions from what we've found with our own kiddos as we use "Drawn into the Heart of Reading". For my third grader, it currently adds about 25-30 minutes or less per day. But I keep the reading assignments purposefully short to allow plenty of time to disc...

Candice, You're not being annoying, it is confusing! The "Favorite Thornton Burgess Animal Stories" set used to be the set we used in LHFHG. But, the publisher changed the make-up of the set recently, so it is now missing one of the titles ("Buster Bear") that used to be included and has been replac...

Karen, As far as his frustration with lengthy stories and sentences, is that within the reading program you're using, or just while he's trying to read easy reader type books? I would agree with Tricia, the previous poster, that being even 6 months older made a big difference in my boys' ability to ...

Candice, Sorry for the confusion. "Favorite Uncle Wiggly Bedtime Stories" (the entire book) is out of print and being replaced by the book "The Adventures of Jerry Muskrat". The replacement plans are available on our website in PDF to print. You can order the book "The Adventures of Jerry Muskrat" f...

Thanks so much to everyone who responded to the poll. It is so helpful to hear from others what your preferences are for read-alouds. For our new book "Preparing Hearts for His Glory", we are planning to have the "Economy Package" consist of the minimum items needed to make the program function. The...

We just finished "Ben and Me" and "Mr. Revere and I" by Robert Lawson. My boys enjoyed both books (although "Mr. Revere and I" is quite a bit harder than "Ben and Me"). So that one was more for the older boys. We are also close to the end of "Baby Island" and loving every minute of it. I remember th...
