Thanks for this fun information!  I had never thought about curriculum needing to fit my teaching style. I am an Olive...although I process by talking things out...in an organized way of course :D .  And I'm usually too quick to say yes when asked to do something  .  I'd love to hear yo...

Ditto to what Candice said!! :D My dd loves to do "school"! Having tried more of a workbook approach with my 1st ds with letters and numbers, I can definitely say that this is SOOO much better!! Everything is covered and we're learning about God and how He wants us to respond to Him and others and i...

My dh and I went to a hs conference 4 yrs. ago. (My dd was only 3 weeks old and so there aren't a lot of things that stick out in my mind... :? ) We were just ready to get started hsing and were looking at thinkgs for our 1st ds. I remember HOD's display and talking briefly to a nice lady :D . (It s...

Hey, I hadn't thought of this benefit of HOD before! :D  I'll have to let my dh take a stab at it! He just wondered why I was laughing and I told him your science story.  (I'll definitely have to keep him away from the experiments... ...I can only imagine the messes or injuries.)  He said he's...

Thanks for your input! I have plenty of time to see how this plays out and most of you said what I was already thinking. The only reason I was really curious about combining is that I'll have 3 programs going soon and more toddlers/babies (Lord willing) in the house. I'm sure I'll have more question...

Mary,

I will be praying for your family. I know how trying times like this can be. I lost my mom (only 51) last September. While it doesn't always make sense, I can tell you firsthand that His grace is sufficient! He is truly the God of all comfort.

Grouping Kids Together

I have a question that I won't need to act on right away, but was looking for some insight and some things to think on as I move down the road.  I have a dd - 3 and a ds - 1.  I'm currently doing LHTH with dd (we started in August, but we're only on week 8 ).  We love it though!  :) I was wondering ...

Hi Rebecca! I'm looking forward to using Bigger in a few months for the first time, too! I look forward to hearing replies to your question and looking at the folder Carrie suggested. Isn't it fun to find something that "fits" with your desires to train/teach/nurture your children?! Happy schooling!...

Thank you! It's much more clear to me now. I would like one more piece of advice... My ds will be 8 next fall while we are doing BHFHG. He is a very good reader, quite a deep thinker, aspiring inventor, and doesn't seem to forget anything. My biggest challenge is getting him to STOP talking a...

Thanks for the post about DITHR, Carrie.  That was very helpful!  I definitely want to use it with my son.  I may even start it soon, rather that waiting until we start BHFHG in the fall.  (Just so you know, I a SO excited that you re going to be in Kansas City!!!  My dh and I were thinking we'd hav...

Storytime and DITHOR?

As I was looking into what I will need next year to do BHFHG with my ds, I'm a little confused about the story time and DITHOR. It looks like those parts of the day are almost identical. Do you do both of them? If you're using DITHOR, do you need to do the same genre in storytime or a different one?...

Candice...I just checked your post about Singapore and it was exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks again! :D anyone wanting to know why Singapore Math is the choice for HOD should definitely read it! Carrie...just so you know, I really appreciate your research and thoroughness (is that a word? :? )...

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your help! :D I have looked at the placement guide and honestly in a lot of areas, my ds could fit in the Preparing category, but I like what is done in Bigger and I don't think it will be boring at all and I don't see any need to push ahead this year. We'll h...
