Re: How to explain Beyond's history to a friend...
aw, I'm sorry that you are feeling you have to shoulder responsibility for her choice in curriculum. Wow! That doesn't seem right to me. (HUGS) I just wanted to offer my support. I have not used Beyond. No, I don't feel that she is blaming me for anything, and I know that she loves and is e...

How to explain Beyond's history to a friend...
because she called me and asked the other day if any of the stories in the history reads were actual recorded facts or all just fiction. I told her that I thought that the stories were a mixture of both. She pointed out the story about the little Holland boy who sticks his finger into the hole in th...

Re: CM Nature Study Question
Lisa, I noticed that no one has answered your post yet and I don't really like when that happens to me so I will try to answer you. I have only completed Little Hands to Heaven, Little Hearts For His Glory and the Beyond guides so what I say will only be in regards to those three. There have been no...

appendix in DITHOR
This is going to sound crazy but how here goes, just exactly how important is the appendix in the DITHOR manual. I (like most homeschoolers) am trying to pinch pennies wherever I can. I saw a great deal on a used DITHOR set and bought it. Once it arrived I realized that there was no appendix. :shock...

Re: Difference in Beyond and Bigger?
I am chiming in late here...haven't been on here in a while. I also used Beyond for my K/2nd dds this year. My dd K turned 6 in Nov. so I don't know where she would match up with your dc as far as age is concerned. I have to tell you that this was a perfect fit for the both of them!!! They have love...

Re: "the reading lesson" or "reading made easy" ?
I purchased RME in the fall of '08 to use with my then almost 5 dd. We worked in it around 3 days a week for a few weeks before she lost complete interest. Instead of pushing her forward and getting discouraged I just put it on the shelf. (She is my second child so that it why I was so able to respo...

Sword in the Tree Lapbook
A few months back we read through The Sword in the Tree and fell in love with it! Since my dds liked it so much I decided to extend the book into a lapbook. Go to my blog http://rubyslippersschool.blogspot.com/2010/02/sword-in-tree-lapbook.html to check it out and see if it is something that you mig...

Re: Question about poetry in Beyond
Thank you ladies for all of your input! I love this place! :D :D I think that I will just listen to her and continue with copying sentences from the books. I do like the idea of having her draw a picture on the back of a copy of the poems...she LOVES to draw so that might work well for her! Apprecia...

Re: Question about poetry in Beyond
Tansy,
No, my dd doesn't HATE to copy the poems but she much PREFERS to copy sentences from a book that we are reading. I guess I am just nervous about skipping the poems and causing her to miss out on some wonderful poetry.

Question about poetry in Beyond
We are currently finishing up Unit 4 in Beyond and are loving every bit of it but I do have a question. My dd7 has been copying the poems from the manual but started to dread it. (Writing is not her favorite thing to do!) Instead of stopping it completely I decided to set a little time for 10 minute...
