Re: Combining

You sound so much like me. I have used FIAR, MFW K, and LHTH. I liked all the programs for different reasons, but HOD was far and away my favorite. I am currently combining my two who are 14 months apart in LHFHG. In the fall they will be (just turned) 7 and 6. I will move both to Beyond with my old...

Re: Where should my friend move to?

Indiana is extremely homeschool friendly. We are required to keep attendance records and to schedule 180 days of school a year. We consider ourselves to always be in school, but I do keep an attendance record. The school districts have no say in what you teach. I took a deep breath when I contacted...

Re: What is your "ONE" Tip to make HOD successful?

This isn't quite what you're looking for but.... my favorite tip is to use a cookbook holder for the manual. I bought an acrylic one (very inexpensive) and I love it.

My girls are 4.5, and 5.5. I would recommend staying the course with LHTH for a little while longer and just skipping the letter activities. There are so many great active exploration, art, bible, and math activities. My girls still enjoy gluing cheerios on an outline of a letter (every once in awhi...

P.S. I was in such a hurry this morning that I didn't read the entire thread to your last post. You said exactly what I was thinking in one paragraph instead of 3. :) :) :)

I just wanted to relate my experience and advise you to pray and trust your instincts. My now 5.5 dd used to hold her books and cry when she was 3.5 and tell me she wanted to learn to read. So I researched phonics programs and we got started. Between Leap Videos and our phonics programs she got off ...

I won't know for sure until the Thurs. night, but I plan to go both days. We have family circumstances etc. to work around. I'll try to remember to send you an email and let you know as soon as I know for sure. Maybe we can introduce ourselves.

Susan :) :) :)

No advice but

I see your e-mail address and am thrilled there is another Indiana HOD user. We're in Terre Haute and I keep showing the manual to people because I love it so much.

Welcome :) :)

Love the choices

I have reading these boards for several months. I used LHTH with my girls and will start LHFHG in the fall. I have a junior in high school and I enjoyed so much looking over your thoughts. You mentioned several that I want to take a closer look at. I wish we had HOD when he was younger. I have to gi...
