HOD and Standardized Tests/College
I've been meaning to post this but I have just been so busy. Anyway my oldest graduated after completing 9 HOD programs. I know the question comes up is HOD college worthy. The answer is yes! My first HOD kid graduated and she got a full scholarship for tuition and books at a private Christian colle...

Hsing special needs with HOD
I have not been on the boards much just because my life is very busy and had a lot of changes. We still use and will continue to use HOD all the way through high school for all six of my kids. But I wanted to encourage the ones that are hsing special needs kids. Just evaluated my high school plans w...

10th grade World Literature
I know it is incredibly early but any ideas on what will be used for World Lit in the next guide. Just wanting to keep my oldest on track for what will be studied while using the Geography guide for 10th grade and hopefully have it so the next two coming through. :D Any ideas yet on what might be us...

Re: New Geo sneak peek?
No weird symbols here but .... WOW!!! Carrie, I am astonished. The Sneak Peek is beautiful. I praise God for you and the way He is ministering to the homeschool community through your family. 8) I SERIOUSLY want to be in 9th grade this year. I agree and I probably could use a repeat of the 9th grad...

Re: Reason #1 to use HOD - The Self-Propelled Advantage!
Absolutely! I have been using HOD for a while now and hit all of the guides but the first. It absolutely leads them to be self driven and it is amazing where those path leads, places I never would have even thought to go. 8) But even beyond this. We never know what life will bring. I would have to s...

Re: Will there be enough of me to go around?
I so appreciate your advice! I do like the idea of combining them in Beyond but I don't want to force it, kwim? It seems a shame not to combine them; although they will be k and 2nd grade, they are only 16 months apart in age. They also have personalities which would make them a pleasant pairing fo...

Re: Will there be enough of me to go around?
I think Lisa has great advice and I actually did exactly what she said. :D I held the older one to Beyond and did bigger with a 2nd and 3rd grader the next year. That turned out to be really the absolute best for us. I could focus on other things with my third grader and she still had plenty in Beyo...

Re: High School Foreign Language?
Just wanted to mention what we are using. I searched and searched for a program that really did what I hoped my children would ultimately use foreign language for and that is witnessing. :D It's hard to find. But there is one that actually has the end goal of that for Spanish 1, Landmark Freedom Bap...

Re: teaching children with special needs
I have a daughter with cerebral palsy. She has short term memory issues, complex reasoning issues, reading issues, and math issues. Basically all the thing in the language center of the brain. The Charlotte Mason ways of HOD have been wonderful for her. She is now the best narrator of all my six kid...

Re: As we move into high school, the design of the guides...
[quote="Carrie" As far as the science plans go, one of the reasons that we've leaned toward multiple options for science in the high school guides is because the science sequence will often look different for different career paths and giftings. :D Even among those students going into a science-rela...
