HOD Graduate succeeding in college!
I don't have time to be on the Board often anymore, but I wanted to pop in quickly to offer a word of encouragement. My son used HOD from Bigger Hearts through US II (3rd through 12th). He graduated in May and is now attending a small Christian university. He only used HOD for writing through all th...

Re: Switching to HOD fully? Dropping Classical Conversations
I'll just chime in quickly and give you the perspective of someone who has a child who graduated using HOD. She used HOD from Bigger Hearts on and graduated last year. She is currently taking college classes online. There have been large amounts of writing in several of the classes. She is able to e...

Re: Question about In Their Sandals writing program
Hi, Lynn! We have had the opposite problem - the stories my twins wrote were sooo long! :D But they did such a great job on them! Now that we are into the second writing assignment, I can see how this one may be much shorter. I like what Carrie said in her response. I think this is a skill they have...

Re: HOD and Standardized Tests/College
I'm so glad to hear this as well! Thank you for sharing! It is very encouraging now to see some of those who started HOD fairly young and are now graduating and doing very well in life. My dd started taking college classes through Lumerit and just took her first final and scored very highly on it. S...

That is wonderful, Lynn! God has always continually guided and provided what you need for your son. It's been a blessing to be a witness of that!

Re: Need encouragement about 10 yo in Beyond
Thanks, Lynn! Those are great words of encouragement and focus. Those are also very good questions to ask. I've learned over these years that I have to continually put the kids in God's hands and trust Him to work it all out - for their good and His glory! Sometimes it's just hard figuring out what ...

Re: Need encouragement about 10 yo in Beyond
Thanks, Stephanie! Yes, he struggles with the reading and writing, but it is more than that. He would not be able to comprehend or remember the readings in Bigger at this point. That's what makes it so difficult.

Need encouragement about 10 yo in Beyond
My 10 yo son really struggles with reading, writing, and comprehension. He has dyslexia. I put him and my 8 yo in Beyond towards the end of last year and we got through the first 8 weeks. I am planning on just continuing where we left off with both of them. However, I am struggling with some anxiety...

I'm so excited to see these, Carrie! This is my favorite sneak peak every year. It will be kinda sad not to have a sneak peek next year. Well, sad for us - not for you, I'm sure!! :D Thank you again so much for all of your hard work and devotion to making HOD the very best curriculum out there! We a...

Re: Soon to be starting high school and need encouragement
Hi! I want to encourage you to lay all of your worries aside and trust God that He will give your daughter whatever experiences and "fun" she needs in her high school years. He will provide everything she needs! That is so freeing! It is not up to you to make sure she gets to have all the "experienc...

Re: Sneak Peek #6: New US2 History Guide
Wow! I admit I was very surprised when I saw this choice! I just assumed Physics would be it. I was actually really dreading it knowing that my kids are not headed that route in higher education, but I just figured it was a necessary evil and we would have to get through it. Actually, my oldest who ...

Thank you all for your kind words! :D I am so thankful for a like-minded community that can support and encourage one another. I want to share a little more personally about our journey in the hopes that it will encourage someone else who may be in the same place that we were in. My dd's high school...

The Finish Line!
I am so excited to share that our oldest finished up her high school studies yesterday! She used HOD from Bigger Hearts with Extensions for 5th grade through the US History 1 Guide this year for her senior year. We feel HOD provided an outstanding, fulfilling, satisfying, rich, enjoyable, interestin...
