Please pray for me!!!
I'm having one of those weeks!!!! Please pray that I don't do something drastic like enrolling my kids in public school!!! I have pretty much lost all my patience and I'm becoming easily frustrated. My 6yo is highly distracted ALL the time and when we are doing school work he is distracted by the li...

Re: Phonics Program? What do you use?
We also use Explode the Code and Happy Phonics!! I love Explode the Code's progression and then we supplement with the Happy Phonics (by Love to Learn) games. My son enjoys both and he is learning so fast!! I also supplement with leveled readers, like Bob Books, I Can Read series, Step into Reading ...

Re: Weekly review 09/04
I'm a little behind with my posting, but here is our updates from the past two weeks. We played some catch-up, reorganized a bit and went on a field trip. I've decided to blend Little Hearts and Beyond together; I think we are going to much happier with this. Here is the link to our field trip: http...

Science in Little Hearts
For the science text there are 3 different books you can choose. I was wondering if the schedule for the 1st grade (Our Father's World) and 2nd grade (God's Wonderful Works) books are in the appendix. Thanks.

Re: Is my kid the only one
Thanks so much everyone!! I've decided to do LHFHG for the "left" side and Beyond for the "right". After a few more days of feeling like I'm just wasting our time and reading to the wall, I feel that this is the way to go. I want him to have fun with the readings and enjoy them, so I think this is b...

Re: Using the alternative math schedule
Thank you, that helps a lot!! I was thinking that if the text didn't have the fun activities, then I would just go ahead and buy the manual for Bigger since I will need it the following year anyway!!

Using the alternative math schedule
I was wondering if anyone is using the alternative math schedule in Beyond (Primary Math 2A & 2B). I was just wondering what the textbooks were like. If you use the "regular" schedule, you don't need the textbooks and Carrie schedules fun activities to do. So, I guess I'm wondering if with the alter...

How often do you take a break?
How often do you take a break from your regular homeschool? And how long do you break for? This is technically our first year homeschooling and we are in week 4 and I already feel like I need a break!!! But I feel like it's too soon!! And we are going on vacation the last week in September, so we wi...

Is my kid the only one
that doesn't seem to pay attention when I read aloud? When I do the history readings and the story time read alouds, he doesn't seem to pay attention one bit. His mind totally wonders, he finds anything he can get his hands on to play with, he gets up and down and fidgets a lot. When I ask him quest...

Re: Week in Review 8-22-08
This past week we did Unit 3 in LHTH and BLHFHG.
Our week wasn't too exciting; we had a few distractions keeping as from our regular schedule.

Book list?
Does anyone have a good resource for finding books to supplement the subjects we are working on. I like to go to the library and get books related to the science and history we are studying. I was wondering if maybe someone had a good website or something that you can just type in your subject and g...
